NextCloud requires either the use of a local sync client (not tenable for huge network shares) or web based file sharing. I think WebDav might work - but I'm not sure anyone here has gotten it to work.

I got it working without to much fuss. Maybe I'll redo that and do another how-to post on it.

But even if you do get it to work, this is still a horrible solution - because it's really no different than old SMB shares, whatever infects your machine can still encrypt all the data the user has write access to.

You have a damned complex about this. Get over it.

The best solution technically is almost never the best solution for usability.

Yourjob is to balance those for the business need.

I have hated Barracuda stuff since 2007 when I worked at a place that had it.

I cannot believe there is not a setting for whole word matching only. Well I can believe it because that stuff is junk.

@JaredBusch - Would be similar to the way ScreenConnect updates.

ScreenConnect only updates when I tell it to.

Correct, I just meant that the update does not require the user to have admin permissions to push that update. Would be nice if Zerotier offered a similar feature.

What is your form of connectivity? HDMI, DisplayPort, mini DisplayPort

Not really relevant as I have every adapter for my laptop. But if you make a person pick, HDMI is always safe.

Trust me, very relevant. Some projectors & video devices do not "play nice" with the Apple mini Display Port adapters
(mini DP to VGA or HDMI or DVI)

      What is your max resolution?

Want better than 800x600, I think that makes for a horrible presentation.

What's the res of the monitor on your MBP?

Only 1280 x 800, but it drives much higher resolutions when an external monitor is connected.

      Which is 'better'

      Mapping by IP or FQDN?

What if DNS fails? Then FQDN fails. But what if you move the server or shares to another server and the IP address changes?

Why are your DNS server(s) so unreliable?

You can always do three or more if you need to.

geezzz.. if you really need to go there, you have real problems.

pointing out that you should properly look for the way to administratively shut this off Because Registry keys are a legacy hack.

I did search for non registry options before posting, just didn't find any in the 5 mins of looking.

      7.2 is here guys 😉

      https://xen-orchestra.com/blog/xenserver-7-2/

Calm down, it's not a big step from 7.1. In fact, it's the start of a more "rolling releasing" thing for 7.2 to 7.x+1 (where x > 1 obviously 😉 )

Next time XS will be upgraded (every 6 months approx) it will be available via simple patches.

7.1 is "frozen" (more or less patches) because it's an LTS.

      Thanks for the info.

I'm debating doing that to see if it fixes my little issue I have from patches to 7.0

@Tim_G OK, got your point and see its validity. But what about when you are servicing multiple, remote SMB customers with a team of 3+ support guys?

      We use Rocket.Chat. It's awesome.

For internal communicaiton. What about external with the clients.

That, I think, is the point of this thread. How useful is IM for the public facing side?

Rocket is great for that. It's external exposure for clients is quite powerful.

I did not realize it had this function. I will be looking into it now.

It's very nice. We build it into WordPress sites for example.

So - I am again being prompted to Authorize a computer that was authorized for iTunes - else may iOS apps will be deleted.

      Has anyone encountered this?

You changed something. Because I have never once had to reauthorize a computer that was already authorized.

Additionally, Apple does not "delete" anything. as it is all tied to your account.

I changed something.. iTunes updated my iOS device to the latest version of the iOS -

Yea, I know Apple doesn't delete anything - it's nice that they don't - but also quite annoying as I have apps (free) that I would like to erase from the history....

@sully93 said in Prompt before sending external emails:

I have been tasked with finding this same solution. We have been running a proof of concept trial on SafeSend (https://www.safesendsoftware.com). It is essentially an Outlook plug-in. For all external e-mail it prompts the sender to verify the intended recipients. There is also an option to turn on to verify any attachments as well. The price quoted is a little more than I would want to pay for a plug-in, but considering we had 3 instances last year of sensitive e-mail sent to incorrect recipients we think it's worth it.

uh - stuck in a legacy world of full local apps. What about users who send emails from their phones?

While a good question if you want to break off, it has nothing to do with the thread because the OP specifically wants an Outlook solution.

I'll add a note for clarity given the title... SaltStack does not do authentication like AD does. AD does not do patching of any sort like Salt does. Salt is an alternative to common myths about AD functionality, but not to actual AD functionality. But you can use Salt to do distributed local authentication management, which does replace the need for AD, but is very different than what is being discussed here. In this case Salt is replacing GPO, not AD.

@scottalanmiller - I can't seem to find how I would implement the Azure AD outside-in approach. I see tons of stuff on how I have already installed AADConnect and sync out.

You just... use it. There's nothing to know. Shut down AD, use Azure AD.

I think he's saying that his on-prem network would then need access to his Azure AD for user/computer authentication.

Well the users just authenticate to it. But since Azure AD comes with your hosted email, it's weird to want old on prem email to authenticate to it, too.

I will be ditching my Exchange 2010 but was wondering how it would be affected by it. So what about about the rest of the on-prem servers that are all AD domain members?

That'll be case by case. What's an example workload?

Filemaker Server, ShoreTel Server, an ERP server, File and Print servers, RDGateway/Terminal Server, vCenter, Spiceworks, PRTG, Veeam

Good to hear. LDAP integration is on my personal list of things to test.

Yeah, I am going to test it and see how it behaves. I also need to see how to do it when deploying NextCloud on Vultr (if I can ever get a storage instance larger than 125GB; they keep selling out of them).
