I didn't get to make it up, but I have been watching the sessions and burning up my data plan. Thanks for posting these. I also wanted to take a minute to call out the guy sitting front and center to just surf the internet the entire time SAM is talking.

I didn't even notice that, I'm going to look for it now.

In the red? That is @DustinB3403

      Ha no it is not!

Great job @scottalanmiller and welcome aboard!

      Hope you enjoyed the experience!

Now if you want to play with it, I recommend you to use our CLI (http://docs.openio.io/cli-reference) or you can deploy our S3/Swift implementation (https://github.com/open-io/oio-sds/wiki/Install-Guide---OpenIO-Swift-S3-gateway).

Feel free to send me some feedbacks, I'm here to help!

      Guillaume.

Thank you for the advice! I look forward to learning more from you

As you learn - don't forget that sometimes you have to question. There have been countless times that I have 'taught' something only to learn of a different and sometimes better way of doing the same task.

I used to use XFCE a lot, but the interface is just too lean for me. LXDE for me now when I need something lean and Cinnamon when I want a full desktop replacement. I find KDE just enough confusing and too "heavy" to learn to bother.

Yeah, KDE isn't my favorite, but everyone here was able to use it without having to retrain them, so it's what we went with. I was very glad I stuck to the "universal" desktop environments when making recommendations tho, makes life so much easier.

I hate that the Super (Windows) key is only a modifier. It's much easier and more familiar to hit that key and have the activities overview come up than alt+space or alt+f2 (whatever it actually is) for krunner.

When you say "in a business capacity"... Do you mean any business or just certain sizes? What is the reasoning? I know you think the FreeNAS community can be very brash/vile at times based on some of your earlier posts to people asking about FN.

      http://www.smbitjournal.com/2015/07/the-jurassic-park-effect/

Basically you are getting a highly stateful system where support is critical but in a crippled manner compared to just using FreeBSD. You are getting something easy to set up but difficult to support. If anything goes wrong you are in very tough shape. And updates come a bit behind. So you have a number of small issues that all add up to a not very business friendly product.

For those who were still having problems getting Mattermost running on CentOS 7, I was also having the same problems and couldn't get beyond the postgres install. I found another guide and with a few tweaks, I was able to get this running.

      https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/install-mattermost-with-postgresql-and-nginx-on-centos7/

The change that was required from this guide was in the "Download and Extract Mattermost"

      Instead of...
      [[email protected] ~]# wget -q "https://github.com/mattermost/platform/releases/download/v2.0.0/mattermost.tar.gz" -O mattermost.tar.gz

      Use this...
      wget https://releases.mattermost.com/3.3.0/mattermost-team-3.3.0-linux-amd64.tar.gz

Then in the next block, instead of...
      tar -xvzf mattermost.tar.gz

      Use this...
      tar -xvzf mattermost-team-3.3.0-linux-amd64.tar.gz

After that, follow the guide to the letter and it will get you to this...

Thought I'd take a quick look at this. I like how the output looks, but agree that I wouldn't want to leave it running. The loadavg jumped just from starting to look at the output.

it would have to, that is a LOT of output!

Wow, you're not kidding about that. Even gives you the current available entropy from /proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail. I've never seen something give you this much information and be so easy to get running.
