So when they are ready to make their software production-ready, it will be the other way around.

Exactly. Like if they ONLY supported VMware or ONLY supported Hyper-V or ONLY supported Windows we'd understand. Those are all potential production ways to run software. But a physical deployment? This means that they've never tested and don't support ANY production environment.

There is a big gap between having "one tested environment for production" and "not tested or supported for production."

Exact same reason we dropped FogBugz. They only supported non-production platforms.

I'm in Uppsala Sweden, all I found locally is this:
      https://www.kjell.com/se/sortiment/dator-natverk/natverk/tradburet-natverk/power-over-ethernet/d-link-dpe-301gi-poe-injektor-p61594
      http://us.dlink.com/products/business-solutions/1-port-gigabit-poe-injector/

Voltage and such is a little bit different. I need something that will power this:

      http://www.pcliquidations.com/p1844-inter-tel-axxess-550

WTF do you mean voltage is different? PoE is PoE. There is either 24V passive (older wireless stuff, and Ubiquiti) or there is standard 48V PoE/PoE+.

That DLINK is exactly what you need.

That drink is like 54 volts and 0.60 ma or something like that, slightly more than PoE injector I brought with me (0.15 I think without looking). I'd get that dlink, but im afraid it'll fry the phone, which is why im asking. I want to be be sure the slight difference in volts and bigger difference in mA is okay.

Higher amps are fine, it will only pull what is needed.

And the 902.3af standard is a minimum of 44VDC. The gernally accepted actual voltage is 48VDC.

      54VDC is fine.

I went and got that DLink and is working great, thanks!

Yeah I looked at this a few months ago, and I agree. There is no threat at the moment. I don't really have any indication that it will get better. We'll see. Maybe MS will buy someone and piece together a "solution" like always.

I find it unlikely because the state of the system hasn't changed in a long time. It's settled into a long status quo of sucking.

With Starwind's coming Linux release (or has it already been released?)... Would this not be done in a Linux VM? That would eliminate concerns about licensing and such.

      StarWind Linux VSA is released

There's no problem to install anything like us into parent partition, question was is it OK to use it as a file server with a free version of Windows

I also wrote a short blurb on automating VM creation using a pre-built VM template, virt-clone, and virt-sysprep: https://www.ramblingbiped.com/build-a-kvm-qemu-hypervisor-on-ubuntu-16-04-server/

That is very helpful. Thank you.

      New NIC fixed the issue.

So to sum up ... one of the XS7 updates hosed the NIC on my XS, but only with Linix VMs. Windows VMs worked fine.

A new NIC (with the Linux VMs using only that NIC) fixed the issue.

This entire discussion was stupid. There is never need to worry about a "best drive" for 99% of users. You buy what ever is cheap and available. Even more so because you have clearly stated this is a short term solution.

Hear ye, the word of the lord. And rejoice, because it has been given unto you.

You dare blaspheme the name of Jared!!?!?! Burn!!!

Say what you want, but th time you spent looking for drives, and then purchasing a drive that is probably double the cost of what you could have gotten, means money wasted.

Don't sweat it. I did one Google search, posted a thread on here, then looked at Amazon's popular stuff.
      10 minute decision.

With T56 series here the 48s dropped down to $170 range, everything else has gotten even cheaper.

The t56a is the cost that Yealink 48s was a month ago, and it is android. About $199.

I got Ubiquiti phones in to test and have updated them a couple times. At last pass they still couldn't park or use BLF reliably.

      I can't imagine leaving Yealink.

Also because you already use MD. 🙂

You know what, I can even move the two disks to my new workstation and not have to transfer any data.

I think the answer may have been found... 😄

Actually even better, I can break the RAID 1 on my current box and convert it to non-RAID, then move one of the disks to my new workstation and convert it back to RAID 1. If done right, I think I can do it all without any data loss too.

I'd prefer to just move the two disks and not have to transfer any data... but that's just me.

Yeah. I'll need to copy my home directory to the SSD in my current box before doing that though. That might be easier than breaking/re-creating the RAID. I'm not quite ready to "switch" yet. Hmm...

Yes. If I CD to /var/www/moodle/ and run 'php admin/cli/mysql_compressed_rows.php --list' I get PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 262144 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 49152 bytes) in var/www/moodle/admin/cli/mysql_compressed_rows.php on line 152

Run that same php info.php file from the CLI... and search for the php.ini file that way...

      php info.php|grep -i "php.ini"

And see what file(s) it spits out.

Edit: Dang... Day late, $1 short.

I really wonder what a broadcast domain looks like Pertino/Zero Tier/Himachi?

Depends on what kind of broadcasts. If you mean Ethernet broadcasts, which is what most people mean (the ones that are limited by VLANs) then these VPNs don't affect them at all.

So an ethernet broadcast storm could bring it down?

Ethernet broadcast storm can take down anything that is using Ethernet. What you are doing on top of Ethernet is irrelevant. But what do YOU mean by "bring it down?"
