@tonyshowoff said in WordPress 4.6 new features are awesome:

A good WordPress feature would be: rewrite WordPress to not be garbage.

Having said that, WordPress has been getting better, slowly but surely, and hopefully in time it will become a lot better. I've been using the 4.6 and the only updates I've noticed is the "RTE" is a lot better, the old one was sort of a pain in the butt, but I mostly edit in HTML anyway, I don't usually use the rich aspect of it.

I'm being cautiously impressed with WordPress.

I hardly ever use it. I'm a big fan of Drupal. It's so much more flexible.

      Posting for @garak0410

I'm using Visual Studio 2015 and the HTML Client (not Sliverlight) for Lightswitch to deploy a very simple website and when I go to deploy, I keep getting this error:

Web deployment task failed. (Object of type 'manifest' and path 'manifest xml hidden' cannot be created.)

Does the target exist at all?

This may give you some hints: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19669796/visual-studio-2013-web-deploy-fails

It's usually just a wrong path, for example when you copy your web project to another machine and try to deploy/run it from there.

Edit: Weird, I didn't see any other answers on Android 6 when I wrote this...

@NetworkNerd said in The High Cost of Unlimited Calling:

There's also the idea that you can have unlimited concurrent calls and just pay per minute of use while you pay a certain fee for each DID you keep per month. As you said, there is a cap to this "unlimited" number of concurrent calls that gets applied (at least from what I have seen from certain providers).

Sometimes all you can eat is all someone says you can eat.

That's surprising that someone would cap that since normally those are charge per minute and the goal of unlimited concurrency is to encourage you to use as much as possible.

I'm not sure what he is taking about. All the pay per minute SIP trunk vendors I have used have no hard cap on this.

Some like VoIP.ms do put in a soft cap but will raise it to whatever you want.

Their reasoning is to prevent fraud

That I would understand, you don't want someone able to charge tens of thousands of minutes of usage per minute if you didn't know what you were doing. Lots of risk there.

Got it. The node list needs to be master nodes only, but by default the non-master local 127.0.0.1 is left in the list. You have to remove it but keep the other nodes in for it to work.

Speaking of security, if a note is just a file in OneDrive, can't it be shared out to a client that way?

      Should be able to, yes.

@Dashrender said in Hyper-V replication licensing:

I definitely see what Scott is saying here and what Dustin is saying here. Clearly there appears to be a need for a term of what crazy SMB owners think of as HA, probably at best meaning redundant internet and servers and perhaps power (but often not because if power is out in an SMB, it's likely the whole business is down anyhow).

But what they normally want is just "to waste money." Nothing more. No need for a special term.

Do you really see this as a conscious choice or just through their actions?

Definitely a conscious choice. The conscious choice might be to be "lazy, uninformed and not care what gets done", but that much is conscious. That that results in wasting money is as clear as the nose on their faces. They don't, I feel, normally (but certainly many times) decide to throw money away just to do it, they do it because being lazy and not caring results in that and since they are actively not bothering to care, it's conscious.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of places throw money away to brag. It appears to be a common SMB trait to flaunt the ability to waste money. I see that a lot, too.

@BBigford said in Concept: Automate License Acquisition:

"Backup" or "failover" licenses is something I have never understood. L

Basically there is no such thing. Feeling that there is is what makes it confusing. All usage of Windows is... well.. usage of Windows. So if you use it, you have to license it.

I buy a license to run a single Windows server. That single server only runs on a single VM Host at any given time, excepting live migrations. Why do I need two licenses for this?

Is that because I have two servers that could possibly run my single copy of Windows Server?

Because the license that you mention does not allow the usage that you describe. Unless you also limit the live migrations to once every 90 days, you need one license per physical server, not just one overall.

Wow... I think that just pretty much eliminated me ever using a Windows Server for anything again, if I have any say in the matter!

It's always been like that. One of the many, many limitations that shocks me how often SMBs just accept as "we have to do it this way and won't even consider alternatives."

What about your normal phone system? Most PBX do video calling naturally. This can be a really handy way for internal calls.

Always thought they could only do voice, I am going to have to test this.

FreePBX and any Asterisk based system does full video by default. It's pretty slick. You can use video phones without any special configuration at all.
