I've been having issues with Chrome resolving pages lately...not sure why...but it's been across multiple computers and multiple platforms...which makes me sad because I REALLY like Chrome...

As far as engineering versus IT... that is a decision that can only be made by you. They are two different fields. Both are fine fields. But only you know which one is going to make you happy. And that's what is most important.

We'll have indeed more sources coming (and better graphs) in the 5.x branch. There is a lot of sources available, so again, the thing will be to display main graph and allow extra stuff if needed.

Awesome, be sure to share screenshots when it is ready!

@olivier said in XenServer Export Performance Seems Poor:

You can create a basic backup schedule and de-activate the compression, then run the job manually. You'll have an export without compression.

When I was running my test, it seemed the exporting directly from XC was quicker than running a one time backup from XO of the same VM to the same location. The export of a small VM (I set it up just for testing this) was about 6 minutes, and the backup was 13.

But it sounds like what you are saying is that it should have been the opposite.

@larsen161 Agreed. You might also want to configure S3 to move the data to Glacier after xx number of days and automate the procedure. Not sure if you need access to the data after it's been backed up, but adding replication to another AZ might be worth looking into as well.

I'm about 3 seconds away from moving back to paper with this array, so it might not even matter.

So I attempted the install last night. There aren't any rpm packages, so I downloaded the source from GitHub and ran their like 4 installers. The web interface came up with the logo but nothing else in it. I tried getting the agent installed on the server, but that failed. I changed the giant amount of data in the configs they wanted changed, and ran everything from their Readme, but still got errors when I tried to start the agent. I just gave up. I'll stick with Virt-Manager and virsh.

Setting it up definitely is not easy to do, that's the most major problem for now I think. I hope once they reach whatever goals they're trying to shoot for, they focus on making it easy to setup.

Ya if I actually needed it or cared, I would have stuck it through. It's on my server at home, so I just didn't feel like putting in the effort. Maybe that's lazy lol.

Trying to get access to do that. I'm not the admin on the box.

In the mean time you could simply set the HELO domain and be done, maybe?

Boom, you get the BA on this one!!

I cheated and read the link, ha ha.

Or if you follow that Ubuntu specific link that you have, do that and select the "root" shell prompt option.

I got the pw changed, but how does one enter single user mode in this install? I don't see it anywhere... These are the only options I have.

., but the CEO immediately shot down anything with that kind of latency.

Why is this the CEO decision? He shouldn't even be in involved. That should be the IT Director and CIO.

We restructured. IT was reporting to Engineering Manager > IT Director > VP of Operations > CEO (who writes off all big stuff). Took forever for approvals to do anything. EM quit after 10 years so we reported to the VP of Ops for 2 weeks. Then we're told IT is a corporate function, not Engineering/Ops, so started reporting to the CEO for everything. Approvals that took years just to get shot down because of the chain, started getting approved in minutes. We can now use a ton of hosted services we were told go against contracts. All in all, I'm totally cool with the transition even if some of the smaller, stupid stuff gets dragged along.

So they decided that things were bad and .... did this as the fix? Sounds like a problem from the top. Even with the new structure, this makes zero sense. The CEO is still getting involved where no manager should be. Sounds like the CEO is likely the root cause here.

I finally just reinstalled off and did a 2010 service pack patch. It works indefinitely for 2010 but doesn't identify the core issue because I've saw one person on 2013 that that happens to.

@scottalanmiller I get that, I just wasn't sure if it was software only, or software/service like Teamviewer.

It's just software. It's a protocol stack like RDP or VNC. Just more flexible and powerful and free.

I should note that WolfWiFi hasn't been updated in a couple of years, and it was quite expensive when I got it. It also isn't likely to work with a budget android device. I had a Viewsonic G-Tablet that it worked ok with (that wasn't terrible at the time). I haven't had to use it much recently, so there may be good alternatives out for it now.

Wifi Coverage Mapper (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.ntek.wcm) may be a viable alternative for it now.
