@jaredbusch said in FreePBX 14 super slow to update and then reboot:

I did not post a bug report there yet as I have no idea if this is reproducible.

I mean I reverted to the snapshot prior to the update and then did all of this. But I reverted because I had exactly this same problem after the update last night.

But I would expect a system to perform the exact same under this scenario.

@zachary715 said in Errors Updating NextCloud:

@JaredBusch So I just installed a fresh Vultr instance and followed your guide to a T. I did download the 13.0.2 file to see if it would install correctly and then if it did, I wanted to see if it would update without issues or require the json module.

When I got to the part about going to the web GUI to setup the admin password, I kept getting an "Internal Server Error" page. Tried rebooting the server but same result. I installed php-json and then systemctl restart httpd and the page came up fine. So it appears for whatever reason Fedora 28 wants php-json module to work properly. Which is odd because my instance has been working fine on Fedora 28 until last night when I did a dnf upgrade, so maybe something else got installed that created this dependency.

Thanks for doing it. I've been busy working on PBX systems all evening.

I'll just add it to the existing guide.

It seems like Quickbook is using Sybase so I don't see a problem there. Samba share will work the same as a share on a Windows server so no problem there either.

"Real" Sybase is UNIX only, I believe. It's a database server, not a shared file. The Sybase shared file is some silly crap that isn't what anyone means when they refer to Sybase.

We still have the error, but we did determine that it's just an error message and the clients can register fine. The registration issue was unrelated. So not a big deal, but it would be nice to know why we get this.

      it should be noted that

it's current build is Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.17134.112]

it is possible that rolling back (if possible) to 16299.492 would resolve - which at a point - becomes a 'fresh install' as roll back expires.
And since this is a remote system, not convenient to do.

Yup. . . I'm an idiot lol. I set it to only look back 1 day and email me those results within the past day.

This obviously would show blank results, since there are no 2013 events within the past day!

      Ha ha ha. Whoops!

Thank you all for your help with this problem.

I had this problem at a site I work at once a week. I went back there yesterday and things worked without me having to do anything so I don't know what was going on.

Anyway, all fixed & once again thanks.

Yeah we have a pretty big .local and I've never had to change anything for it.

Hopefully it stays working for you.

@pete-s said in Advantages of CentOS or Fedora over Debian?:

Looking at CentOS / RHEL they seem they use a very old kernel 3.10, even in the latest release, which itself was released recently.

How does that work with hardware support? Do Red Hat backport all new hardware support from the newer kernels to 3.10? If you for instance are setting up a new server with AMD Epyc CPUs, you'll need support for this in the kernel.

There point releases normally include new hardware support.

@networknerd said in Server 2016 Redirected Printer Change:

That's a new one I have not seen. We used Epicor ERP 10, and in that product I did see issues with RemoteApp where from time to time the user would not have a default printer selected in Epicor (sounds weird, I know), which would then crash any report they tried to print with an error that value of -1 was not allowed. Getting the user to change the printer to something in their list was the workaround.

Thanks for capturing this. I bet it will help someone else and looks to be already doing so.

YEah, that is what happens for this case, the RemoteApp shows the printer as a question mark. Once you go to File, Printer Setup and DoubleClick the printer then it is all good for the printer but all reporting shows in Portrait mode instead of Landscape mode.

As unhelpful as it it... "mine works fine"

If you attempt a boot without the ISO, do you get the "insert boot media..." message?
Have you run a checksum comparison on the ISO file?

No & no to that mate.

I thought all was OK, but alas, no. It installs OK, but when it reboots post install it just hangs and never gets to the GUI.
I've downloaded another ISO, so I'll give that a go.
It is helpful to know that it does work, I must just have to iron out some bugs on my system.

      Yes I was.

Ah okay. Well looks like you have half of the issue fixed. However Ill look into why its not showing up.

Since I know you deal with workgroup POS systems, I thought you might have an idea.

I know you complain about XP and I am on current WIndows 10, but still a chance..

XP was decent... it usually just worked. Win10... lol.

Most problems we have is Xp not talking to Windows 10...

Windows 10 hasn't been a huge problem for us (well me) since i started

XP will have a SMB v1 issue with Windows 10.

      Then don't use Win10!

Can you skip 1709 and go to 1803?

      Will try this today

Be warned... 1803 has its own set of weird issues. 😐

Need to make few changes on our AV as well (an upgrade to support 1803), so it might take some time for me to complete the test

My AV just updated for 1709, and now they are back to having issues with 1803.

We’ve been pretty lucky with our Sophos.

      Sophos endpoint?

      Yes

@scotth said in Point to Point radios - Payment card processing:

Access points will work fine. I'm doing discovery. Is there an application that requires that I use point to point vs APs that I lock down? Reminder: I may end up confronted with PCI issues down the road. For now, we'll be processing privately issued cards. If we move to fleet cards issued nationally, then I want to be thorough before we settle on a solution. I will never get a second chance correct without a lot of grief.
BTW, this is for a convenience store that has a 'captive' island for diesel sales to privately issued card holders.

Providing the channel is encrypted with a reasonably strong cipher you should be good with PCI.

      WUT?

Your AP channel has nothing to do with the data processing encryption.

You software should be all self encrypting before shit ever hits the transmission.

You can send CC over whatever you want as long as you prove the encryption happened somewhere. Granted most PCI talk about using TLS because they are just using standards. But again, that has nothing to do with the AP.

Right - sad thing is so many places make these ridiculous claims that the machines and network need to be completely separate from anything else on the world to be sure they are secure.
