Does Let's Encrypt give SAN certs? I was under the impression that it's for single one off type situations where people don't have the cash to purchase their own cert, most likely being used by someone self hosting (or single site/server hosting).

If it is free, there is no reason not to get 4 or 5 certs instead of a SAN for most things.

Stupid question time (cause I don't know) can you install multiple certs on the same server?

I don't know about apache, but with NGINX each virtual host can have it's own.

First thing is you're going to want to set up an ISO share so you can start launching VMs. I set up a CIFS share so that I can just put ISOs into a folder on my workstation and have XenCenter automatically be able to mount them.

I don't want this on my workstation. Does XenServer not have a method to locally store files someplace?

With Hyper-V I can just drop iso files in a folder on the C/D/E/Whatever drive.
With VMWare I can upload iso files to a folder on the the datastore.

As @DustinB3403 linked you have to add it from cli through the Dom0. Kind of stupid if you ask me.

May be kinda stupid, but considering they have a Dom0, kinda makes sense. It's the same in Hyper-V. ESXi is the odd-man out here, but then, there's no Dom0 there.

I understand since the Dom0 doesn't have much room, but they should give you the option to mount a usb through XenCenter though.

They don't, I believe, because they want the XC interface to be easy for people working with pool, which is the majority of their base. Using a USB drive on a single host makes a lot of sense when you have only one host but when you have a lot of them it would potentially get really confusing.

If they are all on the same controller, why does rebooting affect the others? Isn't the controller suppose to managing that?

The point of auto is to have the AP detect what channels are in use around it and pick the best one. That will obviously be different each time any AP reboots. When the first one reboots, it will immediately affect the ones next to it as the signal drops and the unit around it detect a difference. Then once it powers back on, it has to detect what is around it and then determine what channel to use.

High density deployments are much different beasts than an office building with 3 or 4 AP scattered around for coverage.

Then then I'd say the same about Tap and Pay - if you aren't entering a PIN, how are you any safer then just chip?

It's limited $ and easy to contest. Also speeds up the line at Timmie's like you would not believe. I bet the ones in Ontario* will take debit soon with tap enabled.

*Tim Hortons refused to accept debit for a long time as it caused EPIC lineups. Best of my knowledge they still do not in Ontario (cash only)

WOW - were the terminals so slow that entering a PIN for debt caused a problem?

I remember the commercials from a few years ago... when they were trying to get you to use CC... and someone used Cash and the whole line grinded to a halt.. funny how things are turned around now.

Not turning around, just moving continuously in the same direction. Paying in cash still takes a long time. A lot of places fall apart trying to figure out money and change.

It's probably the best thing I like about Sonic restaurant. Employees who work there have actual real life basic math skills. They can usually figure out change in a second. Three at the max.

I can honestly say I used to be able to do this... until I went to college then my math skills went to hell.

Ok, I resolved this problem by reverting back to 29.73.0.50. As soon as the phone finished booting with the 29.73.0.50 firmware, I heard the CS540 base click active. I pushed the button on the headset to deactivate it and I knew it was going to work before i even picked it up to test.

This does not explain why the EHS previously worked with 29.80.0.60.

After confirming everything working correctly, I upgraded to 29.80.0.60. The headset no longer worked correctly. I downgraded back to 29.73.0.50 and it worked correctly again.

This is a problem with the new firmware for the phone and obviously not a problem with the 3.16.0.0 EHS firmware.

Email sent to yealink support. Hopefully this will be resolved in future firmware.

@JasonNM @JaredBusch I wasn't saying I had one or wanted one. I just wondered how the new AP's compared to the old ones in terms of range.

Range is just important to consider in different context. The range of the AP isn't the same as the useful range, which is determined by the AP, the client and the environment together.

      @DustinB3403 said:

      Ah....

Sorry for the confusion then. Do they have the resources to run another WSUS server and proper licensing? It really is quite a simple solution.

PDQ Deply has options for 3rd party app updates etc, but requires annual renewal.

Oh, I can easily setup WSUS on one of their existing VMs. Just not really sure I want to with the size overhead for this many users.

Hey Jared, sorry if I sound a little lost, but what is the overhead you're referring to? You pretty much only have two options: Deploy a WSUS server and use a GPO (or regedit) to make the workstations talk to it, or you can manually install updates once per month (or per quarter). I would think you could easily deploy a very small WSUS server (either on 2008 or 2012) using WID and about a 60-80gb hard drive. You could even make it one of the guest VMs.

When I was supporting Office 2010 and Office 2013, Windows 7 and 8.1 I needed more like 120 GB to hold all of the updates, and monthly had to do the cleanup or I would run out of disk space.

Obviously there will be some variables to consider. I was basing my recommendation off our current WSUS setup (over 200 workstations, and 30 servers) vs his environment (8 desktop, 2 laptops and some unnumbered servers). Up until recently when MS changed the way the update cycle works, I cleaned our db every month and we've been doing completely fine with an 80GB hard drive on the server.
