I need the machines that I control to be attached to the WiFi pre-logon. This allows anyone with a domain account to log onto the machine.

For private devices, this isn't an issue as we don't allow personal devices on the network.

If I remember correctly NPS allows pre-authentication for domain devices and then "re-authenticates" when the user logs in.

NPS doesn't re-authenticate it. It's just it passes the credentials to the 802.1x authentication first to the NPS server, logs in then will to SSO to login on the computer, using the same credentials. NPS isn't involved in that part of the configuration, you enable it via a GPO.

I don't understand - can you explain it another way?

What coliver seems to be saying is that there is double authentication, but unless you're moving the client (laptop) to another VLAN based on the user who is logging in, I don't understand why you would authenticate the user after the machine has already authenticated.

He was having some major technical issues this morning following discussions and getting very confused. Might have been just making this stuff up to like he was on the other threads.

My main monitors are 27", but I'd be happier with 32".

@thecreativeone91 Ditto, though I recall one particular intel chipset (945? low end P4 skt468/775) that would consistently barf when this was attempted.

there is no router present,i need to make my ubuntu server as a router here

    So you do need bridging?

Bridging and routing are different things. One is layer 2 and one is layer 3. But neither will work if he bonds the NICs.

My first thought was finding the file on the server and manually editing it, but damn.. that would be dangerous.

OH okay. I think maybe someone responded to you about your setup or something and then it looked like there had been a question that there wasn't. Thanks for clearing that up.

@Nic Nice. That's sad about the auto report your life to Microsoft settings. They did the right thing with 8, I figured it would have stayed that way.

I just read a report saying that they're taking all the data collection that 10 is doing and adding it into 7 & 8 with an update.

They probably are.. an update called Cortana, so I'm not surprised by this at all.

So you guys seem to dislike this in Windows - I take it none of you use Chrome or have a Gmail account or a Facebook account or use Siri, etc....

You've been having all of this information collected for years. Microsoft is just being extremely upfront and in your face about.

They had two options, do the Apple/Google/Facebook way and just do it and not tell you.... then when you find out you're pissed! Or do it the way they are and you whine because they are telling you about it.

Skylake is available for purchase now ( with a release date of Friday after this ), though it seems to be only i5s ( at NewEgg at least ) and it seems they're pretending the procs themselves are sold out in order to force people into combos.

Thanks @coliver . I will definitely take a look at RSAT.

As @thecreativeone91 mentioned in a different thread RSAT isn't available on Window 10 yet... so you will have to remote into a Windows 8.1 or Server 2012R2 machine to get that interface.

I downloaded the ISO files on Monday evening.

Tuesday evening I stuck the Windows 10 Home disc in a mahine wit a new HDD and installed.

I was able to skip the product key entry everytime it popped up and complete the install all the way into Windows.

The system is not activated, but is fully functional otherwise.

Just did it as a test because the HDD in the machine died and I happened to be stuck in one place for ling enough to do it.

As the site mentions: "autossh comes in handy when you want to set up reverse SSH tunnels or mount remote folders over SSH. Essentially in any situation where persistent SSH sessions are required, autossh can be useful."
