Do you have some sort of intrusion detection service running right now? (Wazuh, OSSIM, or one of the paid for solutions?) If you do, between that and the ClamAV, you should be as well protected as you could possibly by.

Edit: I should specify to never skimp on user training! KnowB4 is a great tool.

@jaredbusch I already had those changes made and even after the upgrade nothing had been changed. Here is what worked...

Had to add the server private IP address to the trusted domains in the Nextcloud config file Restart the web service Navigate to the internal IP instead of the domain

That allowed me to complete the setup.

Windows image rights and it is certainly an option I'll present but need to provide the cost alternatives for the upgrade path. In my mind, hardware + Windows image rights + Windows licenses = less costly option rather than my team doing in-place upgrades.

This is stupid for the scale. You will spend way too much time prepping images for no reason.

You can install a clean Win 10 almost just as fast as an image. and then you do not have the pain of MS VLSC tracking.

Imaging is nice when it fits the problem, but not for this.

In NOARCHIVELOG mode the database must be shut down before you can back it up. I recommend you to change the database mode to ARCHIVELOG so you can perform an online backup.

There are many documents and blog posts about it, but this may help you:
      https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000011425

      Awesome, that looks promising.

I'm not responsible for the Oracle side of things, so I will pass this on to those in charge of that as a recommended change.

I just deal with the Windows Server / VM & hypervisor back-end of it.

But what Backup system/software are you using?

      It's in the title

And also not really relevant. Because all backups would fail with that error unless the DB was stopped.

@aaronstuder seems to do what? Amazon is NOT claiming to do Datacenter licensing, it is SPLA. And if you look at how tiny those instances are, they are definitely charging the normal Windows amount for them. So nothing like any of the ones that we've been questioning. It is, in fact, these Amazon numbers that make us realize how far off the other vendors are that are not charging plausible rates for Windows.

But Amazon has Datacenter on the systems through EC2 as far as I hosted Windows Servers there.

Are you sure that they are DC not SPLA?

      It is SPLA https://aws.amazon.com/windows/faq/

Right, that's the key difference. Amazon uses SPLA, like Vultr does, and clearly covers the cost of it. These others, say Datacenter instead of SPLA, and don't cover the costs.

It's the combination of claiming a different license and being absurdly cheap, too cheap to pay for SPLA, that is the tip off.

What I should have clarified was that the Servers are running on Datacenter Edition regardless if they have SPLA or not using EC2.

Ah, I see. Yes, DCE vs DCL.

@scottalanmiller I know. I always prefer postgres when available. but there is a chicken-egg problem: small companies buy software from small devel companies which - for whatever reason I don't know- develop only in .NET with MS SQL.
there is a claer trend here in Italy. Therefore you have to bump the specs for the oversized framework.

Same experience. 99% ERP for SMB are made with MS SQL. Usually they are pretty crap. Some stuff from walter kluwers is getting better, though.

Ah, maybe the best approach would be to have two SSIDs. One on a schedule and one on all the time. Then only allow devices you want to connect to the all on SSID.

This is what I have done in the past for myself and my friends/family. I setup a SSID for parents and then sometimes a SSID for each child. That way the parent can turn off the internet for one child and not bother the other children. Of course I always think that the punishment imposed by the children on other children for everyone losing internet because of the actions for one is a great way to get them to behave.

Is the built in migration intended to get calendars and contacts? I would think it'd get everything since they are all technically just folders, but I've yet to have it work 100% for me so was not sure.

Fun fact after researching... it is indeed intended to grab contacts-calendars-mail, but will not grab local distribution groups if you've created them in the local Outlook client. I think they are technically stored in a separate file, but for whatever reason it is not included in the migration.

The file you need to do it manually per user. See below:
      https://support.office.com/en-us/article/migrate-email-and-contacts-to-office-365-a3e3bddb-582e-4133-8670-e61b9f58627e?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US
      Or use Migrationwiz

      MigWiz for the win here.

I just wanted to chime in and say sorry you have to use VNC.

Well,.. I don't have to use VNC. But VNC is native to the rPi distro installed. I could install something like x2goserver, but even that has given me some trouble.

      I’d just use X11 forwarding.

I believe this is the first time I have heard of x11 forwarding - so while I google it,.. I have no ideas about it.

I assume you have been working a lot with Windows for this not to happen šŸ˜‰

Latest news is saying a half million sized botnet is mining line to, and one of the targets are Linux SQL servers.

What's a Linux SQL server? Anything running a relational database? How do they target them?

I assumed that one meant Linux servers running MS SQL.

I had thought of that, but that seemed so unlikely.

Not really. I mean you know how good Windows people patch right?

That's true. But it seems like a worthless target. How many of these can there be yet?

Probably nothing outside of labs / testing.

Why would you run MS SQL on Linux when an MS SQL license includes an OS license?
Why would you run MS SQL on Linux when there are better options to run on Linux?

MS SQL licenses include an OS license?

Maybe not. I thought about it again and I think I got that mixed with System Center including an MS SQL license.

Ah, okay. I was really confused there. I've always priced it out with Server + SQL Server licenses and CALs. Was hoping I hadn't been adding all that in extra all this time šŸ™‚

You were not doing it wrong.
