I accidentally left the Apple Watch at my dad's last week. Just got back to his place tonight and got it back. I've missed it. Once you get used to one, you don't like to be without it.

Last system I checked LVM and mapper were equal symlinks pointing to the same thing. I checked it because I was documenting on CentOS.

Still interesting. Device mapper is just that, a mapper pointing to LVM (and LUKS) devices for example. So your mapper and LVM are both pointing to something "physical" like md devices or sd*?

Both pointing to the dm device, which is another layer of mapping.

Well for one thing I'd like to see a table of contents. Have you seen the one that I did for my Linux guide? Like that. A central page to go to with a list of what you have so that it is easier to organize and find.

Ok. Well right now I only have two tutorials, but I can do that.

Good to get the habit going.

Seems that way, but worth some testing.

I'm going to test the "add folder to SR" theory soon.

Then I can move on to SRs and partitions.

@aanenih said in Can't Get SpiceWorks on Azure to Authenticate to AD:

Hello Guys, I seem to have found the solution to this issue. By default, Azure has no ports open and that was why i was getting the errors. To solve this problem, i had to create an endpoint for the Virtual machine that had Spiceworks installed in it and open ports 389 and 636 TCP.
Now spiceworks syncs and authenticates with the AD on Azure and on premise.

that's why I was asking for specific VPN details. A VPN on the servers bypasses the Azure ports. A site to site VPN hits the "outside" of the servers and has ports blocked.

I set this up a year ago after @IRJ first mentioned Updraft. works great.

It is definitely the best free WP backup I have found. I like the fact that it just zips the files so you aren't even dependent on Updraft Plus if you need to restore.

Why does it need to be pushed out? for 5 computers? You said it needs to be connected to wifi based on device not user.. So just connect it manually. and if you need something to control it 802.1x is how. Pushing out wifi settings via GPO is not a method of controlling which devices have access anyway, that's just making it easier so techs don't have to help users connect.

@DustinB3403 said in How would I determine the dew point of a server room:

@MattSpeller So not working in weather often, can you explain the site to me a bit. I understand the sliders, but this just doesn't make any sense to me.

So, you know two data points (or can look them up)

      Temperature of server room

Humidity of server room (usually the same as outdoors but can vary widely - use worst case)

plug those into the website, it'll solve for dew point and cough you out a number.

As SAM is no doubt typing out already it's not a super useful thing to know but it can be CRITICAL in places like the everglades where you get super high humidity.

For a real life scenario it's most useful to consider it if your gear is ever powered off for a while (week?)

So dewpoint alerts are probably pretty worthless for us, you're thinking?

Suffice to say you'd be having other things to worry about before DP became an issue.

Like getting power back to your building 😛

I'd like to run window/door with temp motion and glass in each room.

      But - Sometimes I don't get what I want...

So human body tracking / detection or do I get you wrong?

LOL - nothing that serious. Temp is for just how the house is heated / cooled. Motion and glass for entry detetction, as a option to the windows.

      Ah ok 😛

There are (ultra)sonic based sensors avaliable. They are able to detect a breaking window. For many sensors, mh, why not go for a meshed solution? Like a few cheap Arduino Nano ($1-1.5 via Ali) and maybe Bluetooth LE or Zigbee for reporting to a central instance.

Yup - that would do it. Hardware isn't so much the issue.... save the need to be as small as possible so it didn't stand out and a huge item hung on the wall. It's the programming... I'm clueless on programming.

What I've done in situations like this is build my own proxy somewhere to handle getting out and then into wherever I need to go from there.
