Haven't read replies yet but... if IP addressing is their security mechanism they are screwed already.

Right, doing what @JaredBusch says on the iPhone is like unplugging the battery, if you could.

Like holding in the power button on a PC/server.

Hence why I used onenote or something local to my phone.....

You know OneNote run on Azure right?

You realize that OneNote runs locally and syncs to Azure? Possibly if you have no Office 365 subscription there is some limit on this, but none that I am aware of.

oh yeah of course JB said that hours ago.
      šŸ™‚

Yeah, even know we consumers aren't in on those meetings, I would like to know what happened...while not as high profile as some apps, 36 hours downtime is terrible for any service...

Does it work from a computer on the same network at the server?

Looking to see if it's an ZT problem or a Server problem.

Same error over normal IP also once I brought up my IPSEC tunnel

OK but you still haven't tried from another PC on that network - i.e. no VPN.

Does not matter. No one connect on network. Also two differnt IP protocols do not work. Issue is not whatever the hell you are driving at.

      two different IP protocols? šŸ˜‰

      /sigh... IP subnets.

@travisdh1 I guess I should note that I got a laugh because the route to go from our site in Killbuck, OH to our host in Walla Walla, WA went

Cincinnati, OH Los Angeles, CA Monroe, AR Chicago, IL New York, NY Philadelphia, PA Atlanta, GA Seattle, WA Walla Walla, WA

Nothing like traversing the entire country 3 times to help with latency, right? Even with that, latency only averages 87ms with the Piladelphia -> Atlanta link being the slowest of the bunch.

I've been under the impression that's how it always was... Red Hat patches a vulnerability or changes something, then CentOS does.

It's how it was when CentOS wasn't part of Red Hat. Now CentOS isn't a company, just a product of Red Hat. So Red Hat is patching both. So your statement above can be rephrased to...

I was under the wrong premise. Whoops... thanks for the clarification. Did not get those answers over at SW. Another reason I love ML.

      http://www.linux-magazine.com/Online/News/Red-Hat-Adopts-CentOS

Lots of big time CentOS users here šŸ™‚ It was good before RH bought them, but way better since they did. Used to be even months behind in releases. Not like that at all anymore.

RH has to keep CentOS patched to maintain their reputation as the most enterprise OS option in the SMB and commodity spaces.

Yeah I live under a rock. We don't get updates about that kind of stuff in the desert. Also, please send food and Internet.

I know a successful wireless ISP and basically in his part of the country it's cost prohibitive to get copper, let alone fiber, to his customers.

I have worked with a successful fixed wireless company in the past as well. it is most certainly a good solution as long as it is done correctly. Not really any different than any other solution. Do it right and it works well.

Exactly. It's almost all about the ISP in question, not the technology itself.

And to clarify for the naysayers. The ISP includes the installation.

Of the screen shots shown, I'm surprised to see the phone icon is missing - I guess you guys don't use the phone portion of your device much.

The phone icon is right on my home screen as well as my apps screen. Look at the first 2 screenshots.

Aww, it's on your home screen, but not in the dock (I'm assuming the icons down the left are sticky - i.e. always show).

The icons on the left are just categories. There's a category for communication, games, internet apps, etc.

It is something I looked at, but with no desire to try and enter an already overcrowded market, I passed on it.

Once upon a time, I know there was an A2Billing module of some kind for the FreePBX GUI for people to get info from their local installs with.

@scottalanmiller said in Files in a LANLESS system:

@Dashrender said in Files in a LANLESS system:

@scottalanmiller let's assume that we get direct application access from Word/Writer into SP or NC, how do you send a link to someone else so they know they have access? How do you register that 'link' in some way so that the correct application launches when trying to open the link?

How do you do it today? Why would it need to change at all?

Paying particular attention to Gene's wording, there would be no more files, only data in a DB. In that case, to send the information via email would mean extracting that data into some kind of usable format then emailing it.

So the contents of the file are simply sent as a file.... that's all a file normally is, a database holding text directly on it with a label on it with the filename. So.... literally nothing changes here under the hood. There is no more or less extraction than before.

You were weren't talking about getting rid of docx files and xlsx files, etc?

Yup, and still am. No files, but that doesn't mean that you can't have a file "view".

But OneDrive, etc still store those things as objects, I don't think you can edit the 'Word.doc' file directly inside the DB, you need to send that object of data to Word to edit it.

As objects, not as files. I don't need to pull the files from OneDrive to edit them. I can talk to the database directly with MS Office 2013 or later, even the online version.

Yeah Office is a bad example because of the massive integration.

Or a good example because it shows how easily it can be done and how well people can't even tell.

LOL - yeah, but you are limited to only MS based files, All other files are just stored as objects in the DB.

Are they? I'm not sure of that. But that's always going to be the case. File systems are for ad hoc, unplanned files. The real question should be... why do such files exist in your environment? When do you actually want ad hoc file types that you didn't expect?

Actually Sharepoint does not natively interface .doc files either. It only uses the new format .docx files in the manner you are saying.

Don't I know it.. I was playing with SharePoint and damn if I didn't have all kinds of problems with DOC files.
