Good points. Now that I think about it, in this case it's pointless since they have a 1GB uplink to the main switch. Since all ports go in to one switch and there is only one 1GB uplink nothing is gained in terms or redundancy or bandwidth.

You always gain redundancy you can have 3 links fail.

btw I add this line to the cfg files, network.dhcp_host_name = 5117, specifically so I can open a browser on network and simply go to http://5117.domain.local or whatever their AD domain is to check a phone.

Saves so much time.

You sir, obviously have better users than I do, if you can ask that question.

Most problems with computer use stems from users fear of breaking things, at least in my experience. When I get new user, I always inform him/her there's nothing they can do to the computer, short of hitting it with baseball bat, that I cannot fix. It only gets easier from there.

Then they download ransomware and prove you wrong.

Wipe the PC and/or server and restore backups.

That's failure recovery. I'd prefer to avoid failure when the option exists.

Use Certbot never this method. keep your life simpler.

Yeah. If the old way is working, that should keep working. However, certbot is easier to use.

When my system came up for renew after certbot was out, I installed certbot and renewed that way. everything is in the same pace. nothing had to be changed in the config files.

Accept defaults in certbot, and I forget the update options off the top of my head.

Call certbot like this.

At 2GB, we never see it need it all. It's decently lean.

Been watching things and it seems to need another CPU. Everytime I click on something on the webpage, the CPU spikes to 100%.

I was speaking of the people on the NextCloud forum. You would still use SCL for any PHP > 5.4 on RHEL

We have Spiceworks setup. People email an address we have setup for help. Spiceworks sucks in the email and creates the ticket. Other than when we respond out of it people don't know anything about the ticketing system. You can really change how and when Spiceworks sends out emails, making it almost invisible to the end user. I recommend some type of ticketing system just for tracking purposes.

Gotcha. There might be some graphical utilities for snapshotting. But really this is just not a thing that is needed on Linux. It's a fundamentally different Os than Windows and the idea of system restoration like Windows does would be weird.

Who cares about this. You buy service. You stop caring once you hand off to them. If they cannot provide quality and you have a solid hand off, you find a different provider.

I think the transparent approach is preferable. Also they are the only pure SIP CLEC I've seen to date.

Not sure if voip.ms has their own interconnects to local exchanges though, seems possible with all their proxy locations.

I watched a VUC episode when flowroute was on years back and I agreed with a lot the guy had to say about the state of Clecs and providers like bandwidth. I had just always assumed voip.ms was more of a hobbyist provider like pbxes.com

Are you using mate or cinnamon? You can set the num lock and caps lock with gconf so it will stay the same with mate. I'm assuming Cinnamon is using dconf like Gnome3.

Do not worry about how to store the data.
Start with what you need to end up with and how it will be entered.
Those are two different things.

You were posting about making multiple tables and getting close to 3rd normal form.

Works great, and is good design of course, but you also need to think about the purpose of this application.

But do you need to get that complicated? Any relational database can take all that in a single table with as many columns as needed.

The purpose is to see what special requirements there are for certain customers. We currently have 145 regular customers who have special needs when we design a building for them. We want to be able to display the customers in a cleaner format and also make it easy for a designated person to update as needed.

And I am, for now, going to use Access because I need something quick and within my current skill level. And yes, when my skills expand, I do plan on redesigning this. The main problem I am having is displaying the notes. Each single note per customer is it's own field. For example, look at this wizard:

In creating a form,. it's wants me to select each note field and ends up looking like this:

This isn't want management wants and it will also cause problems for customers who need more than 16 "notes." They want to see the customer name, address, contact number and all notes associated with it. It would be nice to see all notes in a scrollable window. Not sure how easy that would be with Access but I'm thinking it would be. This is where I may be confused if I need normalization or not.
