      @aaronstuder are you working for @olivier ?

      Just curious.

Also awesome work @olivier and team.

It should be in a quote. But that can be hard to do with a multiline quote like that without serious editing.

It is not super hard to do, but even lacking quoting the entire ting properly, it can easily be posted in a more intelligent manner to be obvious that you are copy/pasting something and not selling something.

You could try the rawhide version of fedora, it is using 4.11 instead of 4.8.6

He tried the current alpha release, worked the same.

      Lead management.
      Run targeted marketing campaigns.
      Campaign analysis.
      End user warranty database.

That's pretty much it at the moment.

We already use Dynamics NAV for ERP, and Microsoft CRM integrates nicely. Or at least it did, I guess with Dynamics 365, all bets are off - especially as it currently only includes AX rather than NAV as the financials side of the product.

Split DNS is the way to go if you have the .local domain naming. Otherwise having your organization domain as org.domain.com might be better as to not use your main domain.

and after a lot of episodes, I've fixed the thing.

please let me state this again: I HAVE.

      I.

Not the HPE support, not the reseller tech support.

      I HAVE.

I = An almost idiot ex-embedded sw developer illogically cast into the sysadmin role of a non-sense company!

      TL; DR:
there was a mismatch between OS version, bios version, controllers firmware version, controller drivers version. Selecting the right combination has (apprarently) fixed the issue!

how storage controllers affect reboot signals is still a mistery... but actually all was related to the smart paging I mentioned before. Moving it from the default location caused all the issues.
I have discovered the "bug" recreating a new vm with copy-pasted hdd but with hypervisor defaults... 2 twins VM one running one not... only difference: location of the smart paging file. XD

This way you can share the config(s) under conf.d between multiple machines using the same roles (or whatever Salt calls them) and have different main NGINX server settings.

@coliver said in Hidden Costs in Hyperconverged Infrastructure:

The only one that has some merit, some being a very key word there, is the networking argument. Each individual node is going to cost slightly more depending on what type of networking the implementation requires.

In what way? What would make it cost more.

Number of ports required for this over an IPOD was the basis.

But no extra ports are needed.

      Example....

3 Hosts HC Backplane: 2 Ports per host, total 6 ports
3 Hosts SAN: 2 Ports per host, total 8 ports

20 Hosts HC Backplane: 2 Ports per host. total 40 ports
20 Hosts SAN: 2 ports per host, total 42 ports.

The bigger you get the less the extra SAN ports matter, but they are always extra.

@travisdh1 making a sql file is a pain in the ass.

Look at my Nextcloud 11 guide for the simpler way to handle that and securing mariadb.

Great! Now we know it will be coming soon to all the other providers. That's why competition is great ! 🙂

I'd guess unlikely. Rackspace and Amazon have had this for years and it didn't spread. DO and Linode have load balancers, Vultr has firewall. They do different features and I've not seen too much rush to converge.

      There's an App called Whatchanged...

Start on a machine without the ODBC connection...

Run Whatchanged, and let it scan the registry.

Add the ODBC conneciton, and let it scan again to see where it is (may be) putting the password in the registry...

http://www.majorgeeks.com/mg/getmirror/what_changed,1.html -- It's an older App, but it still works.

@scottalanmiller I agree. Looking at it like auto insurance where cars can be replaced for a price and medical bills can be paid just doesn't have parallels in IT.

Not at all. It's kind of like getting insurance against doing business badly.

And, at the end of the day, it's just monetary compensation for lost data, which I doubt can really be accurately assessed. If your data is gone, all the insurance in the world won't bring it back, and its value isn't well-replaced by dollars.
