    OK solved this.

Ran a chkdsk in read-only and poof the problem was gone.

odd - it indicated there were no problems, but after I ran it in read-only it worked fine.

I'm confused - You're using folder redirection, so the local copy of the data is only there for speed or network connectivity loss. So there should be nearly zero data loss if you delete the profile after the user logs out.

I'm not sure if there is a reg key on Windows Workstation OS, but there definitely is on Server OS for Remote Desktop Services.

This was something I've seen often turned on to keep the local storage needs of the RDS server from ballooning out of control from left over profiles.

User logs into RDS, downloads profile, user logs out - copy is pushed to the server and local directory is deleted.

    Pretty standard practice.

I'd be surprised if this wasn't available on say Windows 7, etc.

My image above is pulled from OWA - which allows me to save directly to my ODfB while never touching or using my machine in any real way to make the transfer happen.

@Dashrender Yes, then provide proof of windows OEM licenses (5 invoices from dell is all they required) They wanted a count of all devices (phones, tablets, MFPs, laptops, pcs) Then they asked what software I had installed and compared what I had to what they showed. They were missing about 6 open-business agreements I had so I had to find proof of purchase on those.

Just reporting back to say that I successfully reinstalled everything to the SSD over the weekend. Pulled the old drive on Monday, and everything has been working well with the upgraded drive. 👍

@Dashrender What's weird though is I've gotten them to work here and there despite using msiexec. BUT then I changed some things around (added spaces....spaces make life hell but I wanted to see if I had to use " " around the path or not...utter failure, upon changing things back....I broke the installs)

    But yeah, I'm happy 🙂
Now I just need to add what I've figured out to the other programs, which a few auto-activate lol, testing will have to be live.
Ugh then I have to make more deployments for our Autodesk products, which actually isn't that bad..

For postfix to work for this i need to have the full SMTP+IMAP configured

You are associating SMTP and IMAP. They are unrelated. Completely and totally unrelated.

Postfix is SMTP, it has no association with IMAP handling.

Just install Postfix and your sending is fixed. Just put in your IMAP details of your Gmail account and your IMAP is fixed because your application absolutely has a built in IMAP client, that's what those settings are for. Those settings cannot work unless it is a client.

Ah ha, okay. Yeah, just copy/paste into crontab, should be all set.

You'll want to run manually first and see if the emails come through. I tested on a FreePBX system and it went straight through to my Office 365 no problem.

If you are on FreePBX, you will need mailx installed. All dependencies are met by a default install. It's a tiny binary package.

    yum -y install mailx

That is what provides the mail command.

I haven't dealt with anything large at all, so I guess I haven't seen that. I didn't realize it was that bad when you had much larger systems.

If you are on SSD everywhere, might not be so bad. But at the bank, for example, going through logs was painful. Took up a ton of memory while loaded, certain tools could not be used to open the files, long load times, very long scroll times, slow searching, etc. When you have 10GB of text in a single file, things slow down. 🙂

@travisdh1 Yup, that's basically how it works. The insulating material is water-based and converts to steam during a fire, resulting in an endothermic cooling action. Additionally, the steam is forced out of the events which prevents heat from entering the unit. As for waterproofing, the drives are simply in a sealed box that relies on finned walls to conduct heat away during normal operation.

    I give out @ataylor14's phone number, so I don't really notice 🙂

lol, nice. I've started giving out my old Google Voice number (still works, only via hangouts now). If the phone doesn't tell me who is calling, it somehow ends up straight to voice mail. No voice mail = I don't call you back.

I should get the family phone book from my parents to lookup some of the Amish relatives with the phone booth by the road. That'd be freaking hilarious to listen in on. @scottalanmiller, you probably know exactly what I'm talking about.

This conversation is no different for the hundreds of others we'd had and seen - many industries and businesses do not care about their IT, and never keep modern - Look at my CAT scan machine installed in 2008 that came with Windows 2000, or a print businesses print server coming with XP in 2010.

As Scott reminded me again yesterday - it's not our responsibility to care more about the business than the business drivers/owners.

Even so, I just can't help that, I want things I'm involved with to be better.
