Failed to obtain certificate: Error finalizing order :: signature algorithm not supported

One final update. After more searching, I found this that referenced the actual error I was seeing about algorithm not supported.

      https://github.com/Ylianst/MeshCentral/issues/4676

After upgrading from v1.0 to v1.1 and rebooting, the cert automatically renewed and issue was resolved!

I second Splashtop. While not free, $5 a month won't break the piggy bank, and it works dang good.

@Pete-S said in Do international TLD's have restrictions?:

      @dimforest

      For the .it TLD.

Who can register a .it domain?

"An unlimited numbers of .it domain names can be registered by anyone who is an adult and has citizenship, residence or commercial headquarters in the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA), in the State of the Vatican, in the Republic of San Marino and the Swiss Confederation."

      Source, the Italian NIC
      https://www.nic.it/en/find-your-it/how-register

Every country has their own NIC for their own TLD. Only some countries allow third parties to register, very few. More allow a citizen to register on behalf of a third party. Many don't allow that at all.

Italy requires a citizen to register on behalf of a third party (I'm a citizen, but it's a pay so use someone in country anyway). Colombia (that NTG uses) is open for anyone, that only opened up to the global public around 2010 and we got ntg.co literally in the first 15 minutes it was open having lost the lotto for niagara.co

so along these lines, does there exist any cloud (SAAS really) solution provide a, from box open, ability for central user authentication?

      I'm guessing not.
With Windows we have AutoPilot that can have a OOBE that directly attaches it to Azure AD.

But for Mac, Linux OSes, maybe chrome OS, you'd have to have an admin setup the device first, likely add software/agent, then those devices could use Azure AD.

Of course Google has their own solution for Chrome OS, though I have no idea if they have agents for Windows/mac/Linux OSes to do the same?

@Carnival-Boy But if they have 100Mb now and it works fine, how will 100Mb be slow and choppy with a faster ISP?

That can actually happen. If you overdrive the router, packets arrive but dont get processed efficiently. Then it starts dropping things.

@DustinB3403 depending on what you want, you can also:

      $app = Get-ChildItem -Path 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall' | Get-ItemProperty | Where-Object -Property DisplayName -EQ "Microsoft Edge" $installDate = $app.InstallDate

@dafyre said in Who's making the move to vSphere 8:

We are. Currently, my day job is heavily invested in the VMware ecosystem, and there's no likelihood that will change any time soon... So we are already at the point of testing it, though that probably wont' happen until after the New Year.

I haven’t looked at the vmware hcl, but I heard a lot of hardware is no longer supported. I also read that vmware no longer recommends booting from sd cards.

That's all correct. Part of the point of VMware (and to their credit) is to dramatically limit you to a small pool of high quality, well tested hardware. That's partially how they maintain stability.

KVM has a small pool of hardware smart to use. But "supports" almost anything. It's handy to know it will always work, but sucks because people deploy it on crap all of the time.

We just built a new Samba file server here

Question, what authentication method are you using? I'm debating this at a client now.

I think it's TDBSAM (passdb backend in the samab config file). It's AD Joined though, so it may be something else.

Exactly, no matter what here, until you can get access not ONLY to the OS but also to the application, that's your only option.

@Pete-S have you thought of selling it? there is a big market right now for getting rid of old/unused hardware. Especially if you have any SSD's in there.

Thanks, but we're keeping it. Just want to extract the maximum value out of it while it's occupying rack space 🙂
