@scottalanmiller In my experience with saltwater tanks, minerals are kinda like buffers for the ph somtimes, so that is another concern.

Should only be a concern with contaminated water. RO water is always exactly a 7. If it varies from that, then minerals are the least of your concerns 🙂

Drupal, like the others uses php and MySQL for data. But you can do some really cool stuff since it's database driven. There's a module called Views which allows you to create really complex SQL queries, and it's gui driven. You can write the SQL if you want, but you don't have to. You can create full database applications with relations to retrieve data and display it pretty much however you want.

      Here's what Views looks like:

      views.PNG

Here's the query created from that:

      query.PNG

Another cool thing views can do is change output of specific items. So for this view, it takes an input of a fontawesome name (just the specific name like "news" or "flash") and rewrites it with the HTML around it. So when you fill in the form to create the content all you type in is "pencil" and a size number and it outputs it as <i class="fa fa-pencil fa-<size_number>x"></i> which is this:

      pencil.PNG

I am not 100% sure on this, but I believe you need the 5+ installs of Office 2016 for KMS to activate the clients.
You can cohost the Office 2013 KMS host and the Office 2016 KMS host on the same system. Its my understanding that the Office 2013 KMS host will only activate Office 2013 clients.

      Good to know!
      Thanks.

@Jason They can't connect to the domain network, they're force onto the guest network. As we required any devices that want to join the domain network, they must already be in the domain.

Additionally, they need to authenticate via RADIUS.

The guest network is vlan'd off.

Skype exist yes, but the idea is to be able to have a home phone type of solution, where you aren't on a laptop or desktop computer.

A true "home phone" so to speak.

You'd be surprised, there were several phones at Best Buy the last time I looked (5 years ago) that connected directly to Skype - though I can't recall if they did it through your PC via the local network or not.

there are both. Some USB handsets for your PC and stand alone phones.

dude, go with your wireless bridge. I have atleast 10 of these setup in the wild for clients using ubiquiti gear from 200ish feet to 1ish miles without issue. as long as you have LOS, and since you're so close turn down the gain, you'll be golden. i'd roof mount, but since this is just residential and you're apparently just helping someone out who doesn't want to pay for internet (or you want to LAN game/share) the wifi will be your Cheap/easy/good setup.

I have used Keyboard shortcuts for years. I can't isolate a specific task, but there are times that I have one hand on the keyboard and the other on the mouse.

When I was teaching computer and Office basics and short-cut keys was one of the things I would cover. Some of them can be such a time saver.

@Jason Of course you should for confirmation, but the point of any centrally managed solution is so that you don't have to.

You push updates, you push scans, you push removals, and even system restarts.

Centrally managed doesn't mean you don't need to confirm, that's not the point. The point is alerts. And also ease of deployment in a large environment.

That's not how centrally managed AV works. It does not "push" definition updates. The AV client pulls them, you might have a local cache of updates, but it's still pulling them and you don't generally pick and choose. You can push scheduled scans with GPO's even with standalone endpoints.

Cached mode for 2016 is disabled just like all the rest, yeah!

I do this because calendars don't play nice when you're opening up 12 other people calendars regularly, and so are 80 other people.

No cached mode means you're working live on the system at all times, or your not working at all.

What do you expect to happen? That DNS queries should all go to the DNS server provided by the VPN DHCP request?

That's the hope if it is working correct. The VPN client should set the IP address of the workstation with a VPN address and make the primary DNS entry be one that looks through the VPN to the AD DC / DNS server with internal resolution. If not, why not? If so, what IP gets returned. The right one? Or if the wrong one, why?

Short of getting a direct link to what someone is suggesting for you, it's very likely you'll get the wrong (though infected) thing. 😞

Windows is the worst. The Metro store has no search at all, no idea how you were supposed to use it. The Windows Phone store was actually nothing but malware. No real apps at all. The entire platform might as well have been designed for malware. It seemed to have no other function. For that reason alone, nothing more needed, I don't see it as a viable device.
