I do this both ways but usually lean towards fiber when I can't stay far enough away from electrical conduits. A major factor with fiber is that it is immune to noise from electrical circuits and can be run very close to them. I think fiber is cheap and I don't mind working with it. Yes, you can run 10G over CAT6 and it will also work well but you are limited on distance.

Fiber is really nice, any idea what the real cost difference is going to be?

Yes, 40 euro for 4 strands of 65m preterminated, tested, labeled and joined togeter in a single jacket of 6mm.

That's pretty inexpensive! Modules might be a bit pricier. Just make sure you clean the ends.

      Modules are 5.80€ each.

Not bad at all. Go for it then šŸ™‚

Hey, thanks for all the responses, very interesting. I've been looking into Node.js for some time and found some interesting facts. Did you know that Node.js is being used by NetFlix, SAP, GoDaddy, IBM and more? I found it. Also, are those salary rates correct? If so, I'd totally start learning Node.

Please no links to promotional sites on first post, and definitely don't pretend that promotional sites are normal links to general references.

Yes, NodeJS pays well, it's a good field to be in.

I've worked on both as corporate IT and MSP owner. There is a place for corporate IT and a place for an MSP.

The MSP was the clear winner in small companies. Someone trying to do dual roles such as IT and accounting was generally weak in one or the other because they weren't spending enough time on one or the other to become really good at it.

On the corporate side, even if they hired lots of stuff out, they still needed an IT Manager to manage all the IT projects. They knew what was a priority for their business and managed projects accordingly.

I checked just now to see if indexing was installed and setup on the server for this share.

      Installed - check
configured for this share - negative.

So I checked the box for the required folders and now it's indexing. We'll see if this makes any difference.

@momurda said in Win10 won't highlight selected items in File Explorer:

I see this happen sometimes. It actually selects everythign but you cant actually see that it has. Luckily this has always gone away when i reboot.

In my case it was selecting only the one item being clicked on, as evidenced by the status bar at the bottom of the window.

The weird thing for my user - the busy cursor came up when they double clicked on the item, but (in this case) Excel never opened. The busy cursor was still there when I arrived about 25 seconds later.

I had the user check task manager - nothing was hung, the CPU was yawning at 10% usage, RAM was under 3 GB used (8 in the machine).
I had the user return to File Explorer, and try again, first try (at my request) - nothing, second try - it opened.

The lack of opening makes me thing the user is was moving the mouse between clicks, though I can't prove that.

It used to be that way for me, but I have had to flash images on several recent models.

We have very little space in the tubes. I’m thinking about going with MPO/MPT or multiple fiber cables for recabling, because they will take much less space.

EDIT: now I see that today a single SMF can do what an MPO did for a lot of bandwidth, uhm.

You may be surprised at how inexpensive SMF is to run these days as well. But if you have the space in your conduit look into Fiber Microducting. It can make adding new cables (if needed) later much easier.

Are you in the EU? If not why would you think the laws there cover you?

Right, you cannot SELL your licenses in US, but what would prohibit you from buying a legally sold license? That is what I am trying to figure out.

I am not selling, but looking at buying. Completely different rules in many cases.

Buying them is likely legal. Using them while in the US is where the US law, rather than the EU one, would matter.

The law is against selling, correct? So if you buy, is there something stating you cannot use?

If there is, it would have to be in the EULA.

Why, you would expect a self signed unless you replace it.

Sorry, not that I wasn't expecting it since it is self-signed. Just after having it not work with anything but Edge, it was just one more thing to get through and I was nearly done at that point. But I couldn't get it working with Edge very quickly to try it out (got more errors) so I eventually just uninstalled it.

Edge would act the same as IE, I mean you would expect that after the SSL Cert warning anything else would work better but you it is always a feature with MS šŸ™‚

I've realized that there is other Zimbra maintenance that I need to schedule (most importantly upgrading from 8.6.0 to current). I'm going to do the shut down, rescan SR, and hope it coalesces when I do this work. I seem to be in OK shape for the moment. Alike is able to back it up and backups are good (I did a test restore successfully).

Also for a Zimbra you will have some downtime when upgrading for sure (Not as much as if you did Exchange šŸ˜‰ )

JB suggested that this is related to an as yet unresolved issue with pjsip.

To that end, I have changed this trunk from pjsip to sip.

Being as this is an intermittent issue (3 times in the last month, reboot always fixes), only time will tell if sip fixes it.

In the meantime I'm still curious if the logs are in any way helpful?
