@scottalanmiller well, no one said it's a one size fits all :p. To keep within our requirements, that's how we have to play it. 😞

I understand, you are doing it because some civil servant decided that making a forced insecure requirement would look better on getting a promotion than actually protecting the government. Same way it works here. It's just a form of corruption - in this case, probably some combination of inept, lazy or just willing to be insecure to avoid the same issues from inept or lazy people above them. Somewhere, someone who doesn't understand security (we hope that's all that it is) makes the decisions as an administrator and not as an IT pro. It's corrupt because obviously they know that they don't know anything about security, yet they make the judgement call anyway. Hopefully their corruption is just in being inept and being willing to do a job they don't know how to do.

That's a lot of pent up frustration, bad experience or just frustration at ignorant buttheads making rules they don't understand?

    Anyway... Yeah, sounds about right.

That is not the point. Until Microsoft changes their stance, it is not supported.

Okay, it's not supported as a method, it is supported as a technology (the fact that it is on SD is supported, just not how it got there) but it is what their rep recommends. So they have an internal conflict between recommendation, support and road to achieve that goal.

    Nice find!
I remember doing this ages a go but had forgotten that it could be done.
Shows how often I've needed it 😛

@coliver We're using Yealink phones. I'll take a look into it. Thanks!

I'm thinking the hardest part will be setting up the VPN on the PBX side.

    This is rather frustrating.

User Account setup completes normally, but when you open Outlook it asks for a password repeatedly. When you hit cancel you get this 'error'..

I found another KB which didn't do any better either.

Ok, so is it a new router with the same IP or just the elimination of the extra mess?

Same router. Just extra routers removed.

    Ok.

This is how Dell specifically ships PCs.

    Good to know...never knew this...

Yeah. Don't worry about those PCs because you can easily prove they are licensed. Microsoft isn't going to challenge an OEM license on a Dell box anyways.

    Thanks guys...you all are invaluable...

I like hangouts, but i think its way too complicated for non-techy users. Hangouts really doesn't like texting phone contacts. It almost forces you to convert everyone to Google Contacts. Also if you have Google Voice, it will randomly text some people with your Google Voice number . It took me awhile to figure out that I was texting people from Google Voice instead of my carrier number. I found that in settings it tries to reply with the last number you used.

Overall its better than any texting app I have used, but its a real pain in the ass to configure and nothing is really explained.

Yeah, I guess I can see that. What's weird is how Airdroid and Hangouts works...Airdroid will only show you messages sent and received to/from your carrier's number. But in Hangouts, it aggregates your Google chat, carrier, and Google Voice messsages all into one stream. Kind of annoying tbh...that it doesn't show everything in Airdroid like it does in Hangouts...

Some good books are a great way to start. Build some connected, foundational knowledge together. Way better than Googling stuff for getting the basics down. Helps to not miss things that don't come up as "problems."

And I have to assume the version of Windows running on it is RT, and we still don't know if MS is going to be making Windows 10 for ARM.

It's dual processors, obviously. They two OSes run at the same time and one runs in a way that can be disconnected. All of the devices like this are dual procs. That's what makes them work. ARM for Android because it needs to be low power and AMD64 for Windows because it doesn't run on ARM.

RT would be completely useless as, it just is. Android can run on AMD64 but not at the same time that Windows is.
