Unitrends Free for Other Platforms
Will Unitrends Free be available for anything other than VMware and HyperV once it comes out of beta? I would love to download and play around with it, just for learning, on my desktop with VirtualBox or something like that.

RE: Fixing My Resume
Why mention or attempt to justify the "bad time period" on the resume at all? Don't draw attention to it, let the employer maybe decide that it is bad. If you do what you describe you are not just calling it out and pointing to it, but you are stating it in a way that declares it to be a failure. There is no reason to do that. You had a string of jobs - so what? That alone is not a problem. You moved around to different places - so what? Nothing wrong with that, many people would brag about having worked in multiple regions and having more experience not just with jobs but with locations and cultures. And the two are generally assumed to be tied together because chances are you changed jobs so that you could move or you moved for a job. Both generally are "freebies" in the job change game.

I've got a Motorola (why did they have to sell to Lenovo of all companies!) G4 Plus, the one with 4GB ram that nobody reviews. It's been so much better than even my Nexus 5 was.
True, while Lenovo still are making new phones with the brand like Motto M
http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_m-8299.php
But still it is scary to buy from Lenovo, reviewers said that the Android OS looks and feels like stock like the usual but now we cant be sure, Lenovo have habit for injecting weird crap that you cant remove. For me I am liking and loyal to HUAWEI , I actually like their ROM, sure its not anything near Android stock, but I like the extras, I found them professional and helpful and non intrusive.
Had P8 Lite for 2 years and now NOVA Plus, and happy with the new phone. The only thing it is missing is WiFi ac and dual band but for me that is not an issue
I wasn't much of a Motorola fan before they sold to Lenovo. Even less of one now. They were great in the 1980s, but the late 1990s were not good to Motorola. I miss the M68000 days.
Toughest phone I ever owned was a little Motorola Startac flip phone.
My Nokia laughs in your general direction.
I think the actual model was the Nokia Brick
In Soviet Russia, Nokia phone bricks you!

RE: Where to start?
NethServer is a "it does everything for you" product. If your goal is to learn Linux, NethServer would do exactly the opposite - it would keep you from the Linux so that you don't need to learn any of it.

SSL Decryption of American K12 School in Connecticut: Legality?
I have to look at a school system that is using "man in the middle" SSL / TLS decryption for the traffic from a K12 school. This allows the firewall (and who knows who else) to intercept and read traffic that I assume students believe to be private. I've not yet asked for the legal report to see what notification is given to students, parents and so forth and what approval there has been from the legal department. Maybe all the ducks are in a row, maybe they are not. I don't know.
But as a starting point, is anyone familiar with the legality around this? In most situations in the US you can legally do this with employees if they are notified. Then you are free and clear. But students are not employees, in any sense. Nor are they voluntary system users. What legal problems should I be worried about here? Is this normal and no one can sue us if they find out? What if there is a breach of student private communications caused by a mistake by IT or a vendor bug?

Job Hunting 2020 Edition - Where To Start
So, asking for a friend, but it's been a hot minute and I don't know where the game is today, especially with everything happening in 2020. Looking to get out into the playing field again, getting the resume polished up, and looking for work from home work, something in the IT Manager (but actually technical) realm. What's out there today? Where do you even post? I guess Monster and CareerBuilder are still out there, I think Indeed is the big name, and I'm sure LinkedIn is a place to look. Anyone know of anything else? Any general tips of where to start today, especially for work from home?

RE: I can't even
Customer didn't want to buy a quoted $680 computer because it was "too expensive" and they wanted to get something in a Cyber Monday sale. Customer spent $800 to get something with bad specs and needed a Windows Pro upgrade for another $100. So spent $900 because $680 was too expensive, and lost weeks of time fooling around instead of just ordering the right stuff right away.

RE: Stuck supporting out-of-date Windows Servers, what options do I have?
@IRJ said in Stuck supporting out-of-date Windows Servers, what options do I have?:
The problem isnt really updates itself. It's all the erroneous shit that comes included with Windows. That most people have running and they dont want / need.
Or the updates to the extra shit that no one wants.

MicroSip does register from the same location, could this be an issue with the phone only?
Seems like it could be. Physical phones will fail from time to time, they don't last forever. It's rare, but definitely happens.

@garak0410 You want the internet connection on eth0 or eth1, those are the two ports that get the ASIC accelerated routing. eth2, eth3 and eth4 are all on a switch that has to use the CPU for routing functions, really slows things down.
Interesting- I didn't know that. Cool.
Because heβs wrong.
Has that changed, or did I just get bad information again?
It has never changed.
When I go back out there, I'll make these changes...right now, the struggle is getting the port forwarding correct for the Milestone cameras...I matched what was on the previous modem/router and it doesn't seem to be working as the mobile Milestone app isn't working still due to the port forwarding.
Are you certain that it is the port forwarding causing the issue? Maybe it is something else.
