But where are the proof for what you said?

Besides their corporate filings and postings online? We aren't claiming anything that they've not announced themselves. It's public info, not something in question or disputed.

Well, if it's truly the datacenter that is shady, then I would strongly urge my customer to move their gear elsewhere as quickly a possible. Locked rack or not.

Exactly, that's what we're thinking. It's the datacenter (aka Cloud@Cost) that is scary here.

Conveniently, he can also do the same over the ZT network so that he has speed tests from the same tool on both networks.

Yes, they have a special audio conferencing license for SFB, and now Teams. It is an add-on license that you assign to specific users. Although, based on your use-case, I can't tell if it would be of any real help. Here is more info on it. As others have said over and over, you should look elsewhere.

I've switched from Google Authenticator to Authy, makes so device changes aren't so much of a pain.

I use my Yubikey for that. I was using FreeOTP but it's a pain switching phones.

I'm looking at Authy for that reason. Haven't decided yet. So everything is sitll in Google Authenticator.

The Java exception, from what I recall, is due to your settings in the server file, limiting the ram. Change the server file to allocate double or triple the ram already configured.

MC with mods takes a lot of RAM.

Only when you have more than one person playing. The more people in the world, the memory requirements multiply.

The mods need RAM to load into Java, even before users are logged in the server needs to be able to start up. This is no different than with any OS + whatever you might want to do with it.

The environment requires X at minimum.

Sure if you give the server minimum requirements you'll notice...

I upload Veeam backups to Wasabi (and before that, S3) outside of Veeam. I pull down the backups and import them back into Veeam, via the import feature.

I would like to see how well it works when everything is natively done in Veeam. If that is even possible.

How do you upload your backups to Wasabi? Are you using a 3rd party tool?

Yeah. I use a file compare tool called, BeyondCompare that runs on a windows task schedule.

If we were going to give containers a number, it would be more like a Type -1 than a 3. Containers are lighter than Type 1, not heavier than Type 2. Still totally different. But Type 0, 1, 2 go from lighter to heavier.

@michiganbb So you thought that necro-posting and whining about a 3yo post would be useful? Give it a try and see if that fixes your issue. You would have to do this anyway. Even if something works for one, doesn't mean there's a guarantee it works for you,. Backup the PC and try the changes. If they don't work...move on to something else.

There was NO resolution here. Client was one of those who was difficult getting payment from so we terminated the relationship before we did anything else.

The thing with this network is that it's focused on the gadgets, not the tech. From a tech side, it's pretty weak and the author doesn't really even know the stuff that he has...

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed, there were a few times were I was like "..that's not what that means/does/is"

Definitely someone not very familiar with it. Appears not to have learned to much on that side of things even after having installed and presumably used it.

Sounds like I should have read the entire thing instead of just glancing at a few highlights.

Setting up a new server and new VM for a client and need to buy a new Windows Server license. I would usually go to the most recent but wondering if anyone here has had any experience that would suggest sticking with a previous version instead? The VM will host an application that only runs on Windows so any mention of Linux isn't an option.

We've been running Windows Server 2019 since GA with nary an issue. There are a lot of under the hood improvements in 2019 so I suggest running with it.

No different than any other large OS dev cycle. Look at 2003, 2003 R2, 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, 2016, 2019. Roughly equal leaps between them all. It's almost never about features, it is 2-4 years of additional fixes, research, improvements, advances, clean up, etc. Features do play a part, but the lesser part.

The only down side to it, that the files will take size on their machine as well as the NC server, thats it. If you can afford this, then this is the way to go.

That's purely optional. Not a given. NextCloud can be used with files purely on the server just like with SMB.

Huh, how so ? you mean only via web client. If your installing the agent at somepoint it will need to sync the files to your account synced folder.

That's one option, but not what I mean. You can map drives to it, too.
