At the very core of it is a Linux kernel of some flavor, but that just used to load their own vmkernel.

No Linux at all. Never was. Long ago there was Linux in the host VM (Dom0 equivalent) but never in the ESX product itself. That was just a VM on top of ESX that provided a GUI. But that was removed long ago and now there isn't even that.

So just as an added piece of information: If you are using Digital Ocean or Vultr they disable SELinux by default to make it easier for their users (not saying it's right but I read in articles that was their logic). In order to enable it you need to install selinux-policy-targeted

On reboot SELinux will be enforcing.

I was asking for a general case (for more information) but in the specific case that got me thinking about this, all the users in the traveling family have iPhones.

I think they can turn on the Wifi Calling and be set. I just want to confirm texting is free as well. But it should be. (As long as it is to US numbers.)

Of course, as @scottalanmiller reminded me, it doesn't help in the case of an emergency (or if there isn't Wifi), but it's certainly a pretty cool feature to finally come to AT&T.

@scottalanmiller said in Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR):

Growing a RAID 6 is the same as failing a disk in it, so you have to take that into consideration.

While this is true, the stated use case is backups.

I never recommend RAID10 be used for backups. If your backup process is being done correctly (3-2-1 or similar), then you can easily handle a failure in one of the backup stages. Rebuild it and move on.

Oh I agree, RAID 6 probably makes sense. It's growing RAID 6s that I often avoid (as I avoid growing RAID 10, too) but for backups, even that can be okay. But he needs to be aware of the situation.

nearly all features of XenServer are just features of Xen. Just as tons of features of any Linux distro are from Linux, not from the distro. That's why the focus is on the tech at the core, that's where the interesting andimportant stuff happens most of the time.

    No, zpools are RAID arrays.

Read the description. I understand now. Never played with a SAN

Still unable to do it. Unsure if this is something to do with the Vultr image? I tried to use a URL to upload the iso to Vultr but it's kicking back errors. /sadfrownytime'

Edit: Bad mirror. Got it working! The ISO that is.

OK, did a comparison between the two hosts - host 2 is showing 0.0 MB in use on the local disk, but Host 1 is saying I'm using 206 MB. I have NO idea what it is, or how to remove it. It's not needed.

Edit - used the steps here by Thomas Bettray to remove the local SR since I don't care about what is on it.

I'm another MobaXterm user here... I've noticed one minor glitch with the SFTP browser. I can't drag and drop something to a new SSH session the first time I log on.

I have to log out and then log back in, and it works every time after that. I'm coming up on my renewal for Moba here soon. It's been great!

Oh, the picture loaded after I posted.

This has been really common lately. Not sure if it is a side effect of Cloudflare or the last NodeBB update.

NodeBB I think. It loads the image when you scroll to or past the post that has it in it.

@tonyshowoff Msgpack looks interesting. I've got an upcoming project where I need some very small footprint (low power 8 bit uC), some of the grid nodes probably even need to send data via SMS for example (160 bytes per message). Msgpack with MQTT... Need to do some reading 😉

Would you want to find the driver who hit and ran if your child was hit while walking down the road at night with their father?

    Same thing.

A dog and a human are not the same thing. This is an animal.

@Jason said in I am heartless?:

@DustinB3403 said in I am heartless?:

Does it matter if it's a dog a cat or a snake? The pet was family, just like your child is family

Dude, not even the same at all. Don't try to compare animals to a child.

Not to split hairs here - but for some couples who are unable to have children (medically) a pet to you is a child to them. They have the same attachment and love for the animal as they would have for a child if they could have one.

    It still not the same.

and it's still up to those parents to tend to their child/pet.

This is the bulk of what this boils down to for me. Be responsible. You don't want something you love destroyed/killed - then take care of it!
