Not on Slack but there are several great one using https://gitter.im, most communities are for developers but I think you might like more than one using this tag:

      Devops - https://gitter.im/explore/tags/curated:devops,devops

      Ansible - https://gitter.im/ansible/ansible?source=explore Docker - https://gitter.im/docker/docker?source=explore

Seems a bit like an IRC channel.

IRC is all but dead, has been going that way for a long time. Just a lot of old timers hanging on to it.

This seems a lot like old timers hanging onto it, though 🙂

It is a huge community, but my personal experience show that less people are coming in than leaving because of tools like slack.

How do you secure this for truly mobile use (crazy guy is allowed to demand the use of a physical phone from anywhere)?

Ideally, crazy long passwords, and better with TLS on the SIP channel. You can go further with port knocking and similar. VPN is an option. But good passwords go a long way, and adding TLS goes really far.

You don't hotdesk with secure creds though because you cannot trust users type all of that in. That is why it is a bad idea for this scenario.

The best option is simply to use secure credentials like always and just allow the extension to authenticate from more than one device.

This requires training the users to push their ext button before dialing out when using the shared phone in the office.

This will likely be the way I'll handle the folks who come into the office once per week. This project is the perfect opportunity to introduce new behavior.

@Dashrender Right now, there is no security outside of extension number and passcode. Out-of-office users, simply have their phones configured to talk to our on-premises server and they login using their extension's credentials. Everything's in the clear.

Hence your toll fraud. I can log on to any of those extensions from anywhere.

Agreed with Scott, AD while one option, definitely not the only one.

You could use an MDM solution like InTune or the one JB uses (can't recall name).

If you take AD off the table what are the list of things you need to accomplish and let's see what we can do to get solutions for those things.

I do usually install Pithos also.

One other application I use infrequently is Planner. It's a simple PM application that does Gantt charts.

Rolling (based on Tumbleweed), and no, not in this case.

Also who the hell updates shit at 3am?

All my clients have backups running at 6-7pm and updates around 9 or 10.

Why the hell wait to find out shit is broke in the morning. No one is left in the office after 7.

Microsoft by default, in the middle of the week as well.

So you let a random MS default setting dictate your business schedule? WTF?

You correctly start the restore process by right clicking on the taskbar icon.

Thanks. I actually found the same thing by running File Level Restore from the Start Menu.

@wirestyle22 said in SSH Keys and migrating to a new device:

      @JaredBusch Thanks. This is great

Again, you want a unique private key on every device, in order to lock things out discretely. Otherwise if you simply had the same private key everywhere, you would lose all access form every device just because your laptop was compromised and you had to lock out the public key.

So this process is really only something that should ever happen on a profile migration.

Ya it's a big advantage to having automounted home directories or having LDAP store the keys. You can easily revoke and add another key and have it work everywhere.

Or using Kerberos instead of pub/priv keys.

I realize @JaredBusch knows this, but for others who may not.
