their bridge mode isn't a true bridge either. just FYI

Right. I was reading up on that a bit. People seem to call it a "pseudo bridge mode."

That's why they call it "bridge mode" rather than bridging.

      Good reading, as well: http://www.smbitjournal.com/2011/02/why-we-reboot-servers/

A little modern design can get that to zero downtime no problem.

Sure thing, but that would have been a huge undertaking in regards to how applications were written/designed. Starting fresh, no question.

Would it? What are you running that wouldn't do that today? Wordpress will sure do that.

Well, my comment was based on what the developers were telling me back then. Specifically, the way the websites (IIS & .NET) and databases (MS SQL) handle individual user "sessions". I'm not saying it couldn't be done, but it was more effort and development time than what the company was willing to invest in at that point in time.

Oh, the developers screwed up and made a bad application that can't scare properly and then got stuck because scaling and transparent updates are done in the same way. Got it.

But for WordPress, it "just works."

More like, it was an older product that was built up over many, many years, and the products were being phased out anyway, and being replaced by a newer product that would scale properly. I left before said product came to market though.

I have no complaints about Wordpress nowadays. Very simple to setup and use. Really a great tool for all user levels.

Looks interesting... I won't lie, I did expect something akin to what the IE team used to send to the Mozilla devs on a new version release of Firefox.

@scottalanmiller So since I posted the OP, I found out what the issue was. (or at least eliminated it by changing a setting.) On old versions of FreePBX, in Advanced SIP settings, in order to enable TCP connections, you had to manually type:

      tcpenable =yes

In new versions, there is now a button to enable TCP. Having both settings enabled seems to cause these issues. Most likely, the config file for sip.conf gets messed up having these similar/identical settings. Removing the old entry eliminates the errors.

Excellent. BTW, the UI for the EdgeSwitch on the latest firmware is pretty nice. A lot nicer than the Dell switches I'm used to configuring in the past.

For a super simple no VPNs network, the USG works great, pretty straight forward and has some nice pictograms in the Controller.

The issue I ran into was a VPN tunnel between two endpoints that both had static IPs. This just didn't work. A few people have posted their work arounds on my UBNT thread about putting the IP into the JSON config file and not using the GUI to enter the static IPs and have it work.

I like the ability of a OneNote document, hosted in SharePoint, but don't like the lack of organization of it. I like Wiki's for documentation, because you can browse the wiki, copy/paste to/from it without accidentally deleting content. Once multiple people have their hands on a shared OneNote, in my opinion, it just becomes to easy to accidentally delete something.

That's one of the reasons why I'm looking for a 100% client-side wiki that just uses HTML5/JS. Just place that into a SharePoint doclib/dropbox/whatever

      Not a bad idea.

Plus we don't need any proprietary software like OneNote, just a modern browser. Don't get me wrong, OneNote is a great tool, but I would like to have a wiki for my core documentation / admin KB.

But no tool found thus far?

      Still checking available projects.

So circling back to this, I was determined to add an SMB remote backup share. Instead of adding a remote SMB backup share through XO, I just mounted the SMB share through Ubuntu where XO is installed. In this case, I mounted to /Backups. Then setup a "local" remote in XO that points to /Backups. Backups are now running and being stored on a remote computer.

      Awesome.

@scottalanmiller Yeah, it was a test box on Vultr, and in the end, I'll probably just reinstall it, but the fact that it's doing this is bothering me, especially thinking about if it would be a production box. Oh well, thanks for the help.

So thinking this through with using the PA-1...

If I use the PA-1, configure it with an extension, and set it to auto answer, then use the RJ11 port to plug into the paging system RJ11 jack (master handset port that delivers dialtone) then the caller should hear dial tone and control their paging like they could previously. Does the PA-1 RJ11 jack function like this, or is it meant to be directly spliced into audio inputs on an amplifier?

I would have to test. I have only used a handset plugged into that for testing at some clients.
