If you want to use a newer version of .Net, I generally tell it to use whatever version I want and the "Classic" version if it is listed. I've had problems similar using any other version.

OMG, nevermind. Figured that out too. Was a combination of a missing default path and the same .NET CLR pool version as before. It's a subfolder and needs its CLR version set, too. Argh. All is well now.

Maybe your package repo is out of date, I tried this just now on my Mint desktop and it worked fine... but the direct links that you show do not exist.

Try this then try the ppa add command again...

    sudo apt-get update

Everything that you are doing sounds logical and makes sense to me. I'm pretty confident you are not going to hurt anything here. Will it help dramatically? No idea there. But I think it is likely to help without much risk. Seems like a good idea.

The underlying driver in discourse in IT is for the purpose of improving ourselves, our profession, our business or our decision making and we must start with the assumption that doing this well is the goal.

I think that says it all. It is a little wordy, but not so much that it muddles anything... At least not to me.

@mlnews I downloaded it in a VM, scanned it with 3 different tools, opened it and scanned through it with mark1 eyeball, then cautiously tested it on a fully backed up system. ❤ VBScript.

We can also buy old NIMBOXX gear from sad guys managed to actually buy from AWOL company. People we'll help to everybody! We're not trying to rip off poor little souls who spend money on something already we can move on and do free StarWind on top of existing SuperMicro gear + VMware or Hyper-V. Just in case.

I am Starwind customer already. But due to some internal shenanigans, I was forced to replace it with SAN.

    LOL It's a very small world 🙂

Got some good news for you: we don't do software only anymore rather we ship a) hyper converged appliances built on Dell and with VMware or Hyper-V inside and b) will be doing full-blown hardware storage appliance thing soon. VERY soon. So if need a SAN (...and NAS of course with a proper SMB3 stack and decent NFS) we can help. Good news: we'll give you a discount on amount of money you spent on software. Not sure about full refund (as we try to be very aggressive in terms of pricing) but very noticeable partial - for sure. Technically you'll just pay for OEM priced hardware from us. More good news: we can buy out your old SAN as well 🙂

    Good luck! 🙂

Yeah, the industry has put a lot of effort into all kinds of both software and hardware research based around a pricing model that has now changed.

The real lesson here is, as it has been many times in the past, that Windows is the wrong place to be making investments when you can help it.

I've been making money on tipping holes in MSFT product / licensing / marketing strategy since maybe 1998 but... You can make SOME money but it's very difficult to build a healthy growing company this way 😞 So SAM you're 200% right on this..........

Also, what happens if you right click on the game shortcut and tell it to run with the NVIDIA Graphics card?

Nothing. It acts like it will, but once MW fires up, it goes to the Intel HD device instead.

I'm not very adept at SMS use, but what about using email to SMS gateways so that on your side, it remains email and can be tracked via standard email tools?

That actually is what I am trying to do but a phone number can belong to any carrier. I want to know if there is a way to determine or a service that can provide SMSgateway per phone number.

You have to have your client specify their carrier if they want SMS. Make it THEIR problem if they want the feature. I know of no system that offers this without making the person that is signing up specify their carrier.

Well, the main application itself, is a "server" that is started automatically as a service. It gathers data and performs calculations based on the input. Data may be exported, but not always, but stored in proprietary databases. The user interface comes up by way of Interactive Services Detection, and is a bit of a pain... The application is being rewritten as we speak and will use HTML and a browser for GUI in the next version. BUT, the customer is only allowing RDP traffic to the server, not http, so...

Just one customer or most or all? If it is just a few... that's their own issue, right? If they refuse secure HTTPS and demand RDP... sure. But that's on their end, not your end. Why get involved, right?
