I use https://www.wetransfer.com/ myself. I don't need to transfer huge files and when I do, I use a Dropbox link. I got a TB with them, so uploading and sharing is no biggie for me. I must say, though... transfer.sh is pretty cool.

@LAH3385 Once you get the upgrade it converts your Win7 key to a Win 10. So you have to upgrade at that point since you are no longer licensed for win7

    Well - that's sorta true.

Assuming you're upgrading a Windows 7 Pro legally licensed machine, you can legally use downgrade rights to install Windows 7 again.

That's not downgrade rights.. You own both. You have an upgrade which "sits" on top of the full version. You have never needed downgrade rights to go back to a previous version from an upgrade.

That's an interesting way to look at it. Without reading the Windows 10 license I'm not sure if that's accurate or not.. but definitely makes sense. In either case, you do have the right to use Win7 Pro still, once you upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

It's just bad timing and we are in the healthcare market and subject to Texas's Workers Compensation craziness, so its been a rough year or two for us.

Then you best not be using PPTP. Compliance audits will come down on you hard.

If anyone will be at Lone Star PHP in Texas this weekend, let me know. Ill be there and will buy you a beer.

I thought you were talking about Big Texas Beer Fest, which was last weekend.

I was planning on trying to use L2TP and darn for missing the Beer Fest. That's my kind of place! Well Whiskey Fest would be MORE my kinda place haha.

I also wanted to ask you about this as well:
3 Year Warranty & InControl 2 for Balance One/Balance One Core

I really doubt the cloud management would be useful for us since we only have 2 local devices (one active at a time). We will get free firmware updates AFAIK, so I don't really know why that is mentioned. Is there any reason we should get this package? 25% price increase for 2 additional years of warranty doesn't seem worth it to me.

We are using flowroute, and they provide CNAM Lookup at the same price as OpenCNAM - Any reason to use OpenCNA over the one my provider provides?

No reason to use one over the other.

Macrium also retains security, BTW, so there is no difference to taking ownership as in the VHD.

I take it back. You CAN browse the backup/image in Macrium without having to take ownership. Sweet.

@Mike-Davis Both of our DC's are physical at the moment.

Our primary DC reaches out to a public time source, and everything else is supposed to sync with that DC.

No, it doesn't support this. RAID 1, you are correct, but Parity RAID 5 or 6 it does not. The OS needs to be up and running to be able to manage the parity RAID so you can't use it for the system install, only for extra data volumes.

Marketing and research are by far the primary means of getting information out, but sales plays an important role as well.

Not for me. I'm struggling to think of any product I've bought as a result of sales people. Marketing & research cover everything for me. In fact, sales people are such a turn-off for me, that I'm more likely to buy a product if they don't have any sales and I just talk to an engineer.

Well I generally agree, I am the same way here. I don't think that in the SMB it matters quite as much. We are far less likely to have a product seek us out to have a conversation, it's too costly to do. In the enterprise space, this is how it works though. Small, new vendor takes a big player out for food and gives them a presentation so that they get their name known.

From what I found, if you have licenses, you can activate them then hack your registry to get the older clients to work. I haven't been able to reproduce that in my lab.

The size comes to the fact that I have metal brackets on the back of the monitors that fit the Wyse P20. If I can find something that fits that, I can just swap them out and it makes for a quicker set up and tear down of the room.

I came across this thread, and it the Remix Mini might work. http://mangolassi.it/topic/7992/remix-mini-as-a-thin-client/3

I tested connecting to the 2012 R2 server from a tablet and that works.

A 500 error usually means that your application pool isn't setup properly.

    Got an extended error output?

Nope. Found out the guys webconfig was all messed up. I fixed it. There a lot of stuff off in how this guy was doing things.

That would do it. The config file is what controls the pool. If it's misconfigured, it's gonna throw 500 errors.

When in doubt, always turn on the whole error message:

I think I asked this in the original thread but... why not use a CRM that lets you do more than just CRM rather than trying to connect a CRM to WP? SugarCRM might do everything that you need in a single package, for example.

Make the job sound much easier than it is, even if it's an easy job, in order to destroy his confidence. I'm serious. Young people in general do have a lot of unwarranted confidence about their abilities, but IT people especially need to understand they don't know everything and never will. I'm not saying be mean or condescending, but what I've done for years now is talk about the minor details of what I'm fixing and how it works, things they often don't know. Most don't say anything, but a few times a few have said they were over their heads, and one guy even quit, but the work they were doing wasn't really that complex.
