I just don't understand WHY you'd need a connected vending machine.

      Credit Card transactions.

Wouldn't a dial-up connection that dumps transactions once a day be sufficient?

Maybe, but they're probably doing fraud checks on each swipe.

True... and all the more reason for them to be secured better.

The CC transaction connection is a likely a self contained bit like your stand alone reader at a mom and pop restaurant. Those are manually connected to a service on initial setup and then they just go on their merry way with their own secure tunnel.

Snipe-IT would be the best option and yes import works without any issues. I recently setup Snipe-IT and imported our age old excel sheet inventory ( need to work on the formatting a bit to match Snipe-IT format, and for that all i did was to just create one asset and exported that to csv) But if you get the chance, i would say take time and build your database just for the major models, machine types and location and that will help you on the long run.

Well the report is automatically generated from a system we use here. So if possible, rather than having people have to open 2 files, I'd like the modules to just import when excel launches.

I suppose I could bury the modules into the personal file. But I'm not sure if that't the best approach.

@thanksajdotcom - Really just something that is comfortable and over the ear. Being able to walk away from my desk while on the phone would be nice as I am a pacer when I talk.

I assume that wireless models actually connect to the wifi network or are they all just Bluetooth with some kind of base station/usb module.

Also, I prefer over-the-ear, which is why I like the W730. If you see an M after it, all that means is that the specific model is Microsoft certified, but the ones without it work just as well. Also, Plantronics has some awesome software you can use to help manage it, that is very nice and powerful. It's free too. 🙂 aka no extra licensing or fees to get it or use it

If you aren't careful, that's how you end up getting hit with both RDS and VDI licensing at the same time!

Oh I understand. I have not personally used winflector. It looked interesting with their claim of not using RDS I figured it was a workaround MS licensing.

Probably just a clever way to get people to assume that. Not the first company to bank on that exact process.

Found the problem - the uplink from my Unifi to my core switch, VLAN 2 wasn't allowed on the connection.

      Enabled VLAN2, problem solved.

      Aww the little things.

      on which switch.

Also, reinforcing the issue with VLAN complicating things.

The core switch, in my case an HP 2824.

I don't disagree that VLANs can/do add complication. But in this case it was pre-existing complication that I had to work through, not remove at this point.

@JaredBusch Hmmm, the post was mostly meant to also try and help ppl coming from, say, ownCloud 5 - they will get in trouble with the apps, finding the old tarballs etcetera.

If you're on 8 or 9, there is not much news because it isn't, or rather- shouldn't be too hard. Would really like to know what problems you had as we have to fix those 😉

Note that Nextcloud 11.0.2 comes early next week, Monday probably.

Mh, is the EdgeSwitch able to run a VPN tunnel on its own? I need to connect a "remote" office to my server room. The office is in the 3rd floor, my server room in the basement and I need to run through a "public" patch room (primary cabling junction for the building).

      Like:
3rd floor "remote" office -> fiber -> public patch room -> fiber -> my Serverroom (basement) -> Office

I doubt it has the ability to configure a VPN that seems like an edge device is needed for that.

It does not. That would be the router's job.

Yeah, could have been. Probably the same software behind the scenes etc.

but in Windows environment (virt-viewer) they dont have ssh... so how can I resolve it?

Windows has had SSH for a while now. Both OpenSSH as a server and OpenSSH as a client, plus tools like Putty, too.

That doesn't help with virt-viewer though unless you're making a tunnel. I've never used virt-viewer on windows so I don't know if it has an option for keys.

yes, Routerboard if their hw brand, as RouterOS is for software

Heard some bad things about it. Will take another look, thanks again

      like what?

like poor software, bugs, failing hardware and what not

for these particular models or in general? I use routerboards a lot (from smallest up to CCR1009) and it never failed. I don't know for 1036 and 1072.

I don't know a specific model right now, just rumors I've heard here and there
