@scottalanmiller Honestly just an "under the hood" view to get a better understanding of how everything functions in the environment. It's possibly overkill, but I didn't feel like it'd be wasted time spent or knowledge. Also again if/when i move to the Linux world, it seems like it'd be good to have a base of what differs at the kernel level.

@jimmy9008 said in Domain Trust failed on a VM:

Disconnect the VM from the virtual NIC. Reboot VM from host management. Connect to VM from host management (the VM is now not on the network). Login with domain admin creds. This will be allowed as 'offline login/admin'.

Then put the VM back on to the network whilst logged on and rejoin the VM back to the domain. Then restart. Easy.

Rejoining to the domain will create a new SID. Not sure if that would cause issues for the CA in AD.

ok will give it a shot after i give up with fedora 😄
maybe will try centos also as i am abit more familiar with centos. I also feel there are more online reference for centos compared to fedora. maybe it is just me 😄

Fedora / CentOS removed part of the Xen compatibility in favour of KVM years ago. Of course you can still do a Xen host with CentOS, but it could be harder than with SUSE or Ubuntu.

Right, Suse, more than anyone else, embraces Xen.

@scottalanmiller Whether need to create the account and how much for starting the account ?

CloudFlare is free. But if CF is already hiding the IP, you need to log into the account that already exists.

I noticed when installing workstation from the server netinstall, that it uses the default partition scheme of the server compare to the workstation installer.

This is a rental home, so don't want to run cable throughout the house to connect the switch to the router. Resolved the issue by putting in a couple of powerline ethernet adapters.

Glad I could help JB in keeping his blood pressure in check. 😉

Can memory be shared also between VM?

That depends on the hypervisor. VMware ESXi can do this. It's an extremely limited feature and of little value. It's neat and good for things like VDI, typically, but not very useful for servers and there is a reason most platforms don't work towards adding it.

I concur. For most workloads, it's more a pain than a solution.

yes I just realize that my question is stupid for the RAM part 😄

After a few days, Fedora 27 is running nice & smooth...no crashes yet.
Everything I used on F26 is working fine.

There have been a few F27 updates.
    Gnome is now v3.26.1
    Kernel is 4.13.9-300
    Firefox is Quantum v57.0b11

So it seems waveapps doesn't do inventory, and Xero has it built in. And it doesnt appear waveapps have integrations with any other software or an API?

I am actually going to checkout Wave for myself now though seeing as they just added recurring billing. Bummer it doesnt have any way to support invenory, unless I am missing something.

It is just a basic invoicing program really it's not a full accounting system

    Hi, I'm working for Veeam.

Could you be a little bit more specific on the following, please?

When a newer version of Linux (kernel) arrives, the fix no longer works.

    What distro do you use?

Many softwares are free that work on CURRENT OSs, that do not automatically break every time there's a new kernel release.

I'm not sure which softwares are you referring to, would you provide an example of a backup software that works on current (not stable) releases?

I asked in their community forum which person I need to private message for a fix this time... and they point me to support to fix a product that's WAY behind.

Did they (support) provide you with the wrong fix?

<...> especially with how they treat the whole issue on their forums.

This one is interesting - no one would point you to the support team for no reason. Whoever forwarded you apparently had an information that support had the fix. Would you give us the link to the forum message that you've mentioned? Also, what's wrong with going directly to support team to obtain a fix, especially if someone form the company advised you to do so?

And yes, Veeam Agent for Linux requires you to install a 3rd party (Veeam's) kernel module to make the thing work. Otherwise there would be no snapshot and CBT (changed block tracking) capabilities in the product.

    Thanks

Gotcha, still something more easily done with a Microtik than Ubiquiti. Would be great Ubiquiti would start making their switches this way. Basically a switch can be a router, multiple routers, etc.

    That's an L3 switch.

While you are correct, RouterOS and RouterBoard do some things that are unique and will work with there $150 24 port switches. Back when we were bigger uses of them the only alternative was a Cisco Metro Ethernet switch that started at $2500.

Still currently a bigger fan of UBNT though.
