      Try this:

      mount -t cifs -o username=administrator,password=urPassword,domain=domain.local //fileserver/share /mountLocation

No workie, says "Host is down"

Makes me think that your Linux box is trying to connect via an unsupported method.

For example, do you have SMB 1.0 turned off on your Windows file server... and your Linux box is trying to connect via SMB 1.0?

I tried calling out "SMB3.0", but, I get the error "For more deatils see mount (8)"

For a 500gb disk, is there any reason to not accept this setup?
Should /home be on a separate VG?

What if we add another 1TB disk, that should be on a separate VG?

If you do keep the default partition and want to use KVM, you will have to store the virtual disks in /home. Or during install, you remove /home and give the rest back to /.

Why? On my desktop I keep my vdisk on a separate drive mounted as /kvm_store.

It makes sense to resize or choose a larger partition when you don't have another drive available.

The whole point of LVM is to make everything easy to change latter should you need to.

I just face palmed reading that first paragraph:
      New features
      LVM RAID support
One of the biggest features of blivet-gui 2.0 is support of LVM RAID. When adding a new LV, you can now choose RAID level for it. LVM supports the same RAID types mdraid does but you can choose different level for every logical volume so it's more flexible than using LVM on top of an mdraid.

LVM still uses md raid, just like you would normally.

That said, people like their gui for all the things, why not have yet another tool to manage everything.

      I was looking at 2 different systems, CentOS-7 & Fedora 25.
Bridge networking behavior at the GUI is not the same on both.
F25 required some manual config. to add "br1"

Okay, I signed in and then closed the lid.

Light was showing standby. I left it for about 45 minutes. opened lid. Keyboard lights came on but the screen did not come back up. Pressing keys does nothing. Pressing power button does nothing. hard power cycle required to power on.

So, seems to be the same issue.

Does it happen when using Korora 25 Gnome?

I have not installed anything else.

@FATeknollogee The other thing to remember is that choosing the RHVH at installation likely changes the default layouts from what we normally see in a generic minimal install.

I switched to Korora because I wanted Fedora and the Cinnamon desktop.

I like the Fedora/RHEL ecosystem over Debian. I looked at Mint because it uses Cinnamon, but it is so old.

Unlike @scottalanmiller, I will not migrate all the existing CentOS workloads I have out there because the management is manual. If I had a state system setup for all the various client systems it would be different, but I do not.

The Scale partner solution that people are thinking of is Work Spot. And no, it does not automatically create the VMs it's more of an access layer.

@NetworkNerd said in SuiteCRM - install guide, anyone?:

I didn't make an install guide for Linux, but I made one for Windows using Bitnami and thought I would post here - http://blog.thenetworknerd.com/2017/06/12/how-suite-it-is-suitecrm-and-bitnami.

But definitely do NOT install that on Windows. Not only is it costly and bloated so not good from just a general standpoint, but the key components of the system like MariaDB and PHP do not run efficiently on Windows and are not tuned for it. So even if you could get Windows for free and dedupe it like crazy to make it more lean, it will still run like total crap compared to a smaller Linux instance. This is one of the best known workloads that should never appear on Windows, it makes zero sense as the "premium" of Windows is totally lost here and turns into all negative.

@FATeknollogee to answer your original question, I host mine on site or in colo so far, simply because the capacity already exists for any client that is using it.

If I need to recommend it to a client without infrastructure, Vultr storage node will be the first suggestion for most deployment sizes as Scott mentioned.

@matteo-nunziati said in Calling Debian Stretch & Mellanox Experts:

@FATeknollogee rolling means they constantly upgrade sw when ready. The opposite is sw which sticks at a given version and is subject to security fixes only.

Exactly. In Windows terms, it would be like MS Office updating from 2013 to 2016 automatically on any given day. Tumbleweed tends to update a couple times a week, but the updates are tiny. Just whatever applications have a new release and have been tested get released as they are ready, not in blocks together.

The big difference is that it is updates to packages and releases of new packages as they are available, not just patches that are provided. All OSes release patches on a regular basis as needed, or weekly. But rolling releases actually update the software versions all the time.
