I know this post is old, but I've found doing scheduled tasks with SaltStack is insanely simple and very effective lately... so much more than using MS Group Policy.

      https://docs.saltstack.com/en/latest/ref/modules/all/salt.modules.win_task.html

I really want to get back into learning saltstack again.

Here's an example of a task that goes to all minions it's supposed to go to... and it "just works". No AD required.
Also, using SaltStack to sync that .ps1 it runs from GitLab:

I also had to fix a permissions issue from a while back, that wasn't affecting anything until I went to get this feature to be functional.

@DustinB3403 what about the public desktop instead of hte user desktop?

Then it will always be there, regardless of who logs in.

Not a huge concern for our use cases as we usually just end up wiping a system and reloading between user changes.

I thought about it, but it wasn't critical and as we change things around it becomes a pain to remove the old links to systems that may not exist any more.

Be happy he was able to live as long as he did, when he was diagnosed, he was given only a year to live. He obviously lived for 5 decades after that diagnosis.

I am missing the "Obligation" that the crown has to liberty.

It's called nobles oblige and is the singular requirement for granting liberty to others in all forms of government. People can argue all they want about its lack of utility, but history shows it works, and the alternative is "zero obligation." So even if it doesn't work well, it's better than nothing.

What WPA2 security mode are you using? Make sure it is AES not TKIP.

Also a known-good USB wireless adapter is handy to keep around for times like this.

Does UrBackup have a process for writing to tape as well?

No, it is wholly disk based and additionally leverages advanced file system features (such as snapshots, reflinks, compression) when available.

So if we wanted to have cloud storage, we'd run a UrBackup server hosted then, rather than a local one and pointing to something like S3?

It was linked in a previous article. Basically the judge threw Murray under the bus and ran him over a few dozen times with legalese speak. From one of my lawyer friends the judge didn't leave a lot of room for a viable appeal either.

So the biggest item missing from the Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is it lacks a central management component.

Which isn't horrible but it does leave some things to be desired. . .

No, it is not missing. That is a feature of the Veeam B&R product. You can (or soon can) manage Veeam Endpoints that point to a Veeam B&R instance.

Yea with licensing, the topic is solved. Veeam Endpoint works without limits. But it lacks a central management interface.

B&R is a licensed product, right?

      Yes, it is.
