@TeleFox we have a quite old (few years) PBX which has been used in the years adding new and new phone lines with the company expansion. last batch of additions was 6 months ago: 5 new seats with new phones and headsets. PBX is Aastra with proprietary digital phones.

the company bought a new erp last december, against my advice they also buyed a generic "VoIP-ERP integration package". we are now implementing the ERP and the sysadmin at the ERP consulting firm pointed out to me that the package actually is a proprietary VoIP PBX based on asterisk.
the solution involves something around 10 or 15 people (depending on the layout of the customer care dept), company has somethin like 40 phones bwteen DECT and digital deskphones.

      so we can:

throw away the new asterisk PBX (wasted 4k€), sorry 15 people throw away current Aastra PBX , redoing a lot of cabling and rebuying the entire equipement for 40 between wirede and DECT phones try to integrate the 2, especially considering than it is right to isolate the ERP asterisk thing as you would not to depend on an erp for your phone system (ok, redo VoIP wiring and equipement if you want but choose a different strategy!)

now both current PBX managing firm and the carrier have found a number potential solutions (basically a sip trunk between the 2 PBXes).

      hope this clarifies!

      Cool, Irrelevant tech.

Hardly relevant, there are a lot of these systems out there and they need to be serviced and replaced.

      Fixed.

No, as shown by @Dashrender The other day the song cost of an existing system can still outweigh the cost of replacement

      Song cost, eh? 😛

Yes, the Sunk cost for me saved me about $12K over upgrading to FreePBX.

Well you've heard the impression "he got it for a song", right?

I used to love Mitel systems when i had to use them in the past. They can do anything you could think to do with a phone call. I am actually donating the old Intertel Axxess system here and about 35 handsets(look like the ones you have in your pictures) at the end of the week.

Have you tried doing this both off hook and on hook?

No I haven't. you have 35 handsets, eh? do they work?

@Dashrender I'd be pitching what ever kind of PBX @Mike-Ralston wants to build and support and what ever kind of phones would work well for them.

      That'll be FreePBX.

I assumed as much, but wanted to make sure.. so get a list of functions then compare to functions on old system.

Not seeing anything in the Wazo documentation on how to set this up either.

In the early release, definitely is looking like it is a bit hard to use. It's early though, hopefully that stuff will follow soon.

Yeah that guy was an ass... lol

What folder on the server do you place the config files in for https?

it all goes in the /tftpboot folder. FreePBX handles that in the apache vhost config. port 1443 goes there.

I am interested in Xivo (whatever their new name is).

It is not production ready like FreepBX yet, but their goal of making everything accessible via REST API will make it a very flexible thing.

Me too, certainly lots of potential and I hate the FreePBX interface, so am hopeful there.

Let me know what you don't like if you have time!

Also the Wazo(XiVO) developers are great guys. A few of the FreePBX team (Rob Thomas ( @xrobau ) and I) talk to them ( @quintana ) weekly on IRC/Twitter and we've conversed over a hangout session and at Astricon.

@scottalanmiller fwconsole starts asterisk, and it makes sure it's started and running with the correct UID

Or it should. It did last time I checked 😎

Edit: Saying that, I believe I was the last one that messed with that code, so if it's NOT working, it's probably my fault.

Here We can do it per Extension :

      and

      http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+cmd+GotoIfTime

Yes, but that is getting way beyond Elastix and into raw Asterisk programming.

What was said above was reference of how to handle it inside the GUI itself.

Both methods work, but dropping to manual editing of configuration files should normally be avoided whenever possible as that makes it harder to use the built in tools for backup and recovery.

Also, upgrades will often over write manual changes like this, meaning you have to remember and reply them after updates/upgrades.

So when you push a button and have all your phones upgraded to the latest 3CX/Yealink firmware you pretty much know that everything is going to work afterwards.

Now that is a pretty solid value that could make up for quite a bit of cost.

I was wondering how much value this provided. I've done some firmware updates via FreePBX - been a while though - and I didn't find it very easy, though not end of the world hard either.

A push button solution though would definitely be nice. Anyone know if the endpoint module for FreePBX is there yet?

Then you were doing it wrong. Assuming you have the paid EPM, it is all just built in. Always has been.

If you were going without the paid EPM, then it is still easy if you have setup auto provisioning manually during initial setup.

      I've never used EPM.

That's the part of FreePBX that does that stuff.

Yes I know... JB has always suggested against it's value in the past.

Because setting up manually once does take some skill, but after that, it is simple file replication.

      I don't understand what it's asking - Numbers internal start/end Numbers interval start/end?

Yeah, it's is a multi-tenant system so it needs info about individual organizations that will be handled by the system. Threw me too.

OK well now I'm even more lost. Internal Calls context I took to mean the extensions of the phones in your facility - OK pretty straight forward, you're allowing for extensions 1000-2000, but what are InCalls Context? I have no idea what that even means?

Inbound calls and outbound calls respectively.

      Context is an Asterisk term.

I am trying to set up an incoming access number and use it in a pinless scenario. I don't actually have it connected to any phone system per se.
