I'm quite aware of 3CX. I specifically chose Elastix for SMB client over 3CX due to it being open source and unlimited functionality previously. In my eyes, the change to 3CX is nail in the coffin for future editions of the Elastix brand and features / capability for the unlimited functionality. I understand this is business, but in a true open source environment, there's always options. We will continue with our clients on the current Elastix 2.4 and 2.5 branch; however, we have no plans to go to 3CX. It's nothing personal. If I wanted a commercial offering, 3CX would not be a choice. There's Digium, even Asterisk.org, Askozia, and general FreePBX. There are options, and I'm sure more will be coming soon or are available.

I just went to PIAF web site and the same thing happened - 3CX bundled in. Did 3CX just sweep the two obvious Open Source option for VoIP / Telephony solution?

When it came to the open source GUI, Elastix is among the best - telephony wise, the best. The draw for Elastix was their very aesthetically built user interface. There is nothing close; FreePBX is not close. Under the hood they can be driven by same engine, but Elastix was the best in terms of cohesive and beautiful interface. Open source has great tools and backends, but 90+ or more percent lack the real draw for first time adopters - gorgeous / aesthetic / easy GUI.

Because anything Asterisk based goes to crap in terms of options. I am all for options and I don't mind learning. I've seen FusionPBX years ago too in my quest, but that's a one man shop. 2600hz has a good group of techies from the industry for awhile - Kamalio tie in does not hurt at all.

I've heard of Bluebox years ago, and it looks like the makers or backers of that is now on http://www.2600hz.org/. Does anyone use or know anything more of this? This is not an Asterisk based engine but rather FreeSWITCH. I think now is the time to invest in true open source alternative to Asterisk engine. 3CX really screwed up the optional PIAF and Elastix. Maybe this is a good thing in the end!

I posted a comment on alternative solutions and words of why not using 3CX and how they scooped up PIAF and Elastix, and they deleted my comment quickly. That is a sign for sure that Elastix is DEAD and have been gobbled up by 3CX monsters - http://www.elastix.org/community/threads/what-if-3cx-acquired-elastix.132897/ - I gave options and opinions and they deleted. Actually - BANNED - wow! Just to give them alternatives and opinion of 3CX! The above post is what I posted - 10th one down.

Offtopic: Are there any plans to integrate NextCloud with Outllok like Sharefile with Citrix does? I have 4 clients I proposed NextCloud to and 2 asked if NC has the feature to insert files to Outlook emails directly from contents in NC? Check out some of the screenshots via Google Images - http://bit.ly/2hhPuVO - never used it but it appears that business users do not even choose Dropbox and similar because of this feature.

I've been actually been so busy for past few months on projects that these news slipped by me. Astonishing but not surprising.

Doesn't that require Sangoma or derivative of Sangoma? Thtat's not open source if so.
