Why would you do that? Never heard of anyone needed that.

I personally wouldn't do an inplace upgrade. Fresh installs are so much nicer. (We Actually have a policy against doing in place upgrades)

He wants to get rid of the DC but yet he wants to keep all the file history.

Demote it as a DC and P2V it. Gives him what he wants.

I get that but does he not have backups? Or why is there a big need to keep the versioning?

Oh trust me, I agree with you. I was simply stating a method to achieve his stated goal.

IMO, he should just spin up a new server and migrate the shares, but that was not what he was asking.

@scottalanmiller Yikes. That sucks. Kind of like getting a new phone number that used to be used for faxing.

LOL, yeah, a bit like that.

My first phone number in New York was previously owned by an Arab guy with tons and tons of debt, there were debt collectors calling literally all day, 7 days a week, and sometimes late into the night. It was pretty amazing. It was a 212 number so I didn't want to change, they said I'd have to get a 646 (this was at the time that just started).

So, I just turned off my answering machine and turned off the ring for my phone (it had a switch, would've disconnected it otherwise), but sometimes when I picked up my phone to make a call, there'd be someone there accusing me of being this guy. It never ended.

@Dashrender Interesting. I would try restarting the topology service on my Exchange server to see what happens but there are about 8 other services that are dependent on that. I am going to see if I can get away with doing it tonight or this weekend.

      @JasGot said in Exchange 2010 (On-prem) Migration to Hosted Exchange/Office 365 Planning:

@wrx7m How did your migration go? Have you done any more? Just curious what tools (if any) you used......

I'm about to start a migration and need to decide if I am going to do it as a pst import, or a migration from on premise exchange to cloud, and if so, do I use the built-in migration tool at admin.exchange.microsoft.com or a third party tool.

I am interested in what you did and what the pros and cons were.

      Thanks!

Ended up doing a migration using the standard MS tools. Been a few years now and am glad I did it.

How do you connect this to other stuff? I have never user SPF before...

SPF+, SPF only does GigE. The SPF+ port actually takes a tiny adaprter that connects via a little bread board like a tiny PCI slot. The SPF+ unit itself is the physical adapter and it then has the optical or copper port that you plug into. So you need an SPF+ adapter to go into your SPF+ NIC before you can plug something into it. SPF+ supports all kinds of media including RJ45, several types of optical, TwinAx, etc.

@scottalanmiller We are also working on our enterprise offerings. See https://www.zerotier.com/product-ss.shtml -- we haven't made a big announcement quite yet but we are working with a few customers in the IoT and device space and this is also applicable to large enterprise SDN. We will offer live real-time monitoring of network quality of service and proactive investigation of problems as a service, and one of our engineers has a machine learning background so we are planning to leverage advanced quantitative analytics and deep learning against circuit test data eventually. We're also looking forward to pitting deep learning against harder scenarios in NAT traversal in the near-mid future.

Pricing on that page is still being refined. We might add something more fine grained in the future. Existing model is actually geared more toward IoT device vendors.

@scottalanmiller Thanks, I did have them assigned as dedicated resources/DCs.

It was definitely a bug in the Pertino client (build 520):
So after dealing with Pertino support, they recommended I try the previous build (510) and that seems to have corrected the issue. They mentioned there were some other problems that led them to pull down the 520 build from the site and replace it with the 510. Support said that a new build (526) should be released soon.

Low latency trading is where I have seen it the most. The times are so low there that things like the width of a river causes noticeable problems for fiber lines!

Can't you give Mandrill your DKIM private key? Of course that's probably not wise. In which case I'd setup a sister domainname for this purpose.

DKIMs seem interesting. Though without Secure DNS I'm not sure what good it really does, the Public Key listed in non Secure DNS can be spoofed by a MITM attack - though I'm not sure how much of a real concern that is.
