Geovision Network Video Recorder - Anyone Using a Xeon CPU?

I am replacing on older whitebox system that is running Geovision NVR for a mix of analog and IP cameras. The analog card is becoming problematic and the system is now over 5 years old. I have purchased a new card and am now trying to get a system that is more standardized with warranty and a little more capable and have integrated out of band management (in my case iDRAC).
When chatting with their support, I was told (after a hang on... let me check with someone moment), that the software would only work with i3-i7 CPUs. I know there is a difference, but how much of a difference is there that this software would not support Xeon CPUs? Is anyone using Geovision with Xeon CPUs?

I suppose they could hard code it to require an i series processor - but that would seem odd.

Xeons are the same architecture. i3-i7 are not exactly a thing on their own.

I really only cared because I wanted the out of band management that iDRAC provides and DELL doesn't offer it on non-server class systems. I could get an IPKVM but I would like to avoid it if possible.
And come to think of it I am running their supplemental/client software on my workstation with a Xeon CPU.

You could probably find a SuperMicro variant with a full IPMI feature set that would do that. Something that would let you have an i5 or whatever.

Only if they are doing detection as someone said before. No technological reason would exist, it would purely be someone intentionally blocking Xeons.

I am going to try installing the "server" software on my workstation just to make sure they haven't limited it in any way.
