I bought the book My iPad for Seniors for my in-laws last year. They are in their 70's and he knows more about iOS than I do now 😉

When my son finds a way to destroy this one I'll definitely be looking at Huawei again, if they're not completely crippled by the Google stuff.

Great feedback. I've been doing some SAMIT videos on YouTube doing analysis of the Google situation. Personally, I think Huawei is going to weather the storm. But it'll be tough.

If anyone can it's them. Interesting piece of human history going on right now. I'm not sure how it will end. Maybe just sanctions being lifted

this burned me last summer - Thought I had roaming data off - nope.. damn phone racked up $300 in charges.

      Ouch.

I don't use PP - but for the Linux day Office use, I have Pithos running. If I'm travelling alone, I run regular Pandora and haven't go over a few hundred MB in an 8hour drive.

A few hundred megs - well, that would have been like $1300 in charges for me... I think I downloaded about 105 MB for $300

      WTF? that's like $3 a MB.

That was common but we legislated against insane charges like that. Worked.... well enough.

$10/MB was very common before the CRTC slapped them around

It's not just zero day, but when signing up for AlienVault's OSSIM, you can subscribe to their Open Threat Exchange. I have it email me whenever they find something new, which is almost every day. The latest one was "Flying Dragon Eye: Uyghur Themed Threat Activity" https://otx.alienvault.com/pulse/581916f4aa96ef71368c8e47/?utm_source=email&utm_campaign=new_pulse_from_subscribed

Hmm... I have an account already. I think it goes to junk...

Well, fix that and you've already got one!

      @thwr said in storvsp.sys - Hyper V question:

But, TBH, do we have such a List for GNU/Linux, BSD or MacOS?

MacOS, no. Proprietary and gone since the 1990s.
Mac OSX, no. Proprietary and not that documented.

      my bad

Linux and BSD, yes, because open source is natively documented by definition.

For the most part, yes. Just a little example: https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/w1/slaves/w1_therm

Could you tell from just looking at this file how exactly a virtual sysfs w1-therm temperature data file or even the virtual file structure looks like for a DS18XXX sensor? I had to try it the hard way, because there was no such documentation a year ago.

That's just one simple example. I know, I could (and probably should) improve that on my own...

      Spoiler:

      cat /sys/bus/w1/devices/28*/w1_slave 62 01 ff ff 7f ff ff ff 91 : crc=91 YES 62 01 ff ff 7f ff ff ff 91 t=22125

Cool. We're going on an online, non-live training course. It's still been really cool. Not quite as much hands on type stuff as I'd like.

I'll have to find out how much the test is by itself, it would seem.

I think it is $500 or $600 and you have to send in documentation proving your security background.

Wow. Sounds...interesting, considering I don't really have any official security background. It was all "other duties as necessary" at my last job, lol.

@IRJ - click on the yellow where it says /dev/sda5 and see if the "Resize/Move" button works - otherwise you'll have to unlock it somehow, which I think GParted can do but I don't know how.

There's been lots of "calling out" on the community recently.

Not sure if this is a good thing.

Has there been? I've not noticed much.

Yeah this is the first I remember.

At least in some time. I can't remember anything recently.

I remember a bit of it, mostly vendor targeted. Although I see how this could be vendor-centric..

Of the screen shots shown, I'm surprised to see the phone icon is missing - I guess you guys don't use the phone portion of your device much.

The phone icon is right on my home screen as well as my apps screen. Look at the first 2 screenshots.

Aww, it's on your home screen, but not in the dock (I'm assuming the icons down the left are sticky - i.e. always show).

The icons on the left are just categories. There's a category for communication, games, internet apps, etc.
