One of the biggest things I've done to just stay lean is avoid eating bread. There is so little value there in bread that it's not worth the empty calories/sugar.
I've also stop consuming milk and limited my sugar intake but nothing drastic to the point where I'm constantly asking about what ingredients are in a meal etc.
Just no milk / sugar in coffee, no toast or bagels etc.
That's great. I think breads are one of the hardest things to kick out of your diet. That's a major step if you've done that.
Milk is the easiest for me, i can't stand dairy. Cheese sometimes, because it tastes good, but everything else, yuck.

I said nothing about cheese. . . cheese is amazing and I can't imagine not having that in my life. But it's also not something we eat regularly so it's not readily available.

Was really stressed lately and so I fell off the diet. My wife was under stress as well so she fell off with me. I went to weigh myself and wow, I still lost three pounds! I didn't tell my wife. She asked me "how much did you gain?" I avoided the question. She then kept pestering me. So finally I said, I lost three pounds. At which point she just turned around grabbed her stuff for work and promptly flipped me off and left.

And then you <insert some act> with her sister for revenge right?

Just started back working out this week. Going the early morning route after watching some motivational stuff online about waking up earlier. Gotta get past all the initial soreness again.

That's how I do it, trying to get there around 5:30am before work. I don't think I'd rather go any other time. It feels best to go then.

The last few months I have noticed that after sitting for a while (30 min), standing up and walking instantly hurts feet/legs for about 60 steps, then is fine... is this a concern or an age thing? Its not getting worse, just the same for the last few months and I put it down to generally being unhealthy... a concern? (question for all you old gits!) ha
-
@obsolesce Yep same with me. Get up between 530 and 600 and lift weights then get ready for work. I found I sleep better at night if I work out in the morning.
-
Most of the initial soreness phase and am already seeing/feeling those initial results. Hard to understand why I ever stop working out. Usually it's because my afternoons get too busy, but hopefully this morning schedule will work out better. I've gotten used to it by now and actually enjoy it. The one morning I "slept in" so far I felt groggy and sluggish.

@zachary715 Yeah I'm not saying its easy. I struggle with getting up. I do feel better and have more energy throughout the day when I do though.

Same, it's hard when I'm not in bed before 11. Today was the first day this week I went in this morning. Gonna also try to thursday and friday. Three days is better than none. Maybe Saturday morning, but might not have time. When I go saturdays, I take the kids to their childwatch (YMCA) and they play there for up to 2 hours.

Ha I'm in bed by 8:30 or 9:00. I still need to get my 8 hours of sleep. I can get up at 5am though and be back by 6:30am before the wife and daughter are awake.

That's not easy for me to get that much sleep. I try to shoot for 6 hours.
I can't go to bed straight after putting the kids to bed, I got to have my own time every night. So if the kids are in bed by 8, finish dealing with them by 9, that leaves 2 hours max of time. It's not easy.
-
@obsolesce Yeah I try to go to bed by 930 every night. Many times it doesnt happen but I do try lol. We are members of the ymca as well, its a great place for the kids

No kids - but this is how I feel as well. My wife normally goes to be an hour before me, giving me free reign to do what I want/watch what I want. Lately though, she's been staying up later, which is causing my me time problems.

As some of you know, 4.5 weeks ago my wife and I joined Farrell's Extreme 10 Week Workout program. MWF - Cardio (Kickboxing, etc) TTHS - Strength training (swap between upper and lower).
Starting weight 189.5 lbs, now, near the end of Week 5, 182 lbs.
Percent body fat: Starting - 20.9, today 18.4.Here is the results from a body scan on July 16 (right) and today (left)
I've lost 5.7 lbs of fat in 16 days. I've gained 2.5 lbs of muscle.
I can't believe the changes after such a short period of time!
