Job is in Florida, and he needs someone in the corporate office with the lab, etc.
said he'll be in touch later if something remote opens. -
Started an on-premise to Microsoft 365 migration this morning. Only 1 file share to deal with getting into Sharepoint this time.
Sadly, they'll still have on-premise Quickbooks

... Oops. -
lost a client. been with them for 8-9 years.
no consultation, no nothing.
they have a track record of this type of behaviour
the worst thing about it all
the way i've been treated
got told my services were no longer required by a consultantthe new mob they've gone with
first thing they asked me to do (yeah, I'm going to take notice of what they want)
can I remove the av off all hosts so their rmm can be installed
this, while i'm still managing the network -
there's no respect
i'm an older worker now and people think you don't know anything because you don't know about the latest xyz.
truth be told, I don't know about the latest xyz because i've seen that type of thing before and it had limited market appeal and folded after 5 yearsthe less experienced generally see initial benefits
the more experienced generally see initial benefits, long term issues, growth pathways and so on.getting from 25 yo to 50 yo doesn't take long, you should always have your ears open ready to learn and always treat people respectfully.
-
they asked for a rate sheet incase they need me to come in and help with something.
i'm loathed to help at all following the way i've been treated.
if i do help, the rate will be astronomical.a great example of bridge burning.

So sorry for your lost time.
-
@siringo , well that sucks.
There are ways to take over a client and there are ways to suck at taking over a client.
It sounds like the new mob have an air of arrogance about them. Yuck.Hope you can sort things out and pick up a better client.
-
Also @siringo, why can't they remove the A/V themselves when their contract starts?
IMO, It's your ass on the line before their start date and they are just trying to make things easier for themselves at the expense of your soon-to-be former client. -

All I hear in the back of my head is a line from one of the last songs from the Lorax movie.
"Let it die, let it die, let it shrivel up and die,...."

no doubt!
apparently we own another tiny company for a single service that we supply/share with other locations around town... so the owners made a separate company just for that. And it's all run on QB. The previous accountant is retiring and the new person is someone I'll have to support.

Push for a
hard no
if possible. needs to be absorbed into the main.... -

Luckily it's really tiny and shouldn't amount to much - i just hope they have their backup solution in place.

Make them move to QB online then.
