At the moment we use a file share and mostly Excel spreadsheets to record tasks., notes and actions. The only advantage to this approach is its simplicity and the fact that everyone loves files shares and Excel.

You can move that existing process into Sharepoint as is. But you can add gannt charts, project pages and more to slowly grow.

The developers are here but don't really follow the conversations. If you really want to get some attention for a feature request, the platform request place is here at the NodeBB forum. MangoLassi doesn't develop the platform and can't make code changes.

      https://community.nodebb.org/category/5/feature-requests

But as the aren't in beta yet (0.9.x) it's probably too early to make many requests. They are still getting the basics working.

Fortunately the issue hasn't become a large one. If it does, I think I'll probably end up buying another Windows license and giving those users a VM to log into the bank from.

Or I could get SA/intune license and build a VM on the server for them to share.

The process of writing stuff down for others is a great way to get a new perspective even if the others never see it.

A bit on the reimaging rights. Intune with SA is a volume license. You could use the volume license media and key to reimage other computers that run the same exact product version. You could use the Win8.1 Pro media and key for other Win8.1 Pro computers. Upgrade rights are only available with SA, one device per user. Do understand that if you cancel Intune, you'd be revoking your volume license rights.

      Alex,
Under the old SA in a VL setup, let's say you bought Office Pro plus with SA, when you purchased it Office 2010 was out, but during your subscription, Office 2013 comes out.
Now say you discontinue your subscription. It is my understanding that you can use 2013 in perpetuity.

Is the same true for machines that you purchase Intune with SA? So you have a Windows XP machine today, you buy Intune with SA which allows you to upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro (or Enterprise if you wish). If you dump the SA portion of the subscription are you required to go back to XP on that computer? If that's the case, calling it SA was a bad decision as the rules would be different for two things with the same name.

The software, including the OS license, is provided on a subscription basis only. There is, however, a buyout option that's available for cancellations after the initial 12-month term. I'm not sure what the pricing on it is offhand, as that requires contacting MS directly.

Thanks - I do recall seeing something about a buyout.

Do we have a MS rep around to answer this?

Why not just make two GPOs and apply the User one to the User OU and the Computer one to the Computer OU? I generally separate them because I use User GPOs for certain things and Computer GPOs for other things.

This is the way to go. Keeping GPO and RSOP processing time to a minimum is key. If you have User GPOs applied to computer objects and vice versa, it requires just a bit more processing for the DC to generate RSOP. Keep it simple; keep it clean.

Yep! It'll be interesting. I have entirely conflicted feelings about that.

I agree. But I also agree they should never have gotten rid of the start menu on non touch devices in the first place. If they wanted to replace it with something like the 'dock' on Mac.. fine (I actually kinda like the look, but have no idea on the function).

      Here's my situation,
I've dorked up my phone - not sure how, but I want to hard reset it.

My concern is that since I'm using GA for several sites (mentioned above) I want to make sure I will still get codes for all of those sites.

The standard process for moving GA to a new phone (or setting it up on a hard reset phone) is to visit the GA site and reinstall, scan the code on screen that Google gives you and you're going again... but I'm guessing that the code that good is presenting is a whole new one, different from what I have right now (it's also how they ensure it's only one phone phone at a time). So since the base code has changed, even if my phone brings in the 'sync' codes from the other services from my old phone, since the base code is different, my GA provided codes for say Dropbox won't match any more and now I'm locked out of my Dropbox account.

So I'm wondering, do I have to visit all of the sites I'm currently using GA with, and disable TFA, then reset my phone, and then go back and re set them all up? God I hope not!

Why would the offline snapshot be different than an online?

Snapshots don't make open files be closed. Databases keep their files open and snapshots of any system like this are inconsistent, potentially, and unsafe. Only a database aware snapshot is useful for databases. And basically none are.

This is a higher level issue that is far worse when you use SAN level snapshots. They lack visibility not only to open files but to the quiescence state of the entire file system too.

Ah...that might explain your comment. About 4 months ago one of my clients OWA was from Comcast and it didn't look the same, so I presume they weren't using 2013 Exchange.

OWA 2013 is definitely much different than any of the OWAs in 2010.

And at their prices there is little reason not to test them out. Very low financial risk.

So far, all the changes for IE that I've had to make have been doable via GPO. I recall using IEAK years ago, but stopped using it once I could start using GPOs.

@Dashrender Asus routers are by far the easiest I have ever setup. Almost pull out of box and plug in easy.

I love the newer ASUS line, it has DD-WRT by default for firmware. It has added features compared to most manufacturer firmware. But it's not too hard to configure. Should be fairly easy for non-techies to understand. I probably won't go back to Linksys since Cisco no longer owns it.

I don't think Cisco owning Linksys added any value. Hurt it actually.

The Asua line with DD-WRT was a brilliant move on Asus' part. If you want DD-WRT which a lot of people do, why go anywhere else? I need to get one for testing soon. Probably the best way to go for home routers.
