@JaredBusch I just did my first eye appointment in 30 years yesterday. I didn't know eye dilation was a thing. I walked outside and asked who put the second sun in the sky it was so bright.

looking for a simple windows desktop thing that can give me a visual indication of the status (contactable, not contactable) of 15 windows servers. Just something simple that can launch from the taskbar, do a ping, and colour an object red or green dependant upon the reply.
Anyone know of anything. Free is best.
servers are on zero tier. -

Son went to Er for bad stomach pain, so waiting for news.
Just sent him off by himself? Good one.
@scottalanmiller said in What Are You Doing Right Now:
Oh no, I hope that everything is okay.
Also this.
Thanks, I know what you mean. His mom took him.
Any news?
Doctor said it was a torsion. He may have to have surgery, not sure yet.
Sorry to hear that mate, what's a torsion? I hope it's not serious.
Well I don't understand it entirely myself. Its a testicle torsion. That is where some tube in there gets twisted and it shouldn't be. I am told cause is mostly genetic, for whatever that means. I did not have it when I was a kid and had never heard of it either.

That sounds like something my nephew had. Woke up in real bad pain & had to go to hospital. Hurts like hell from what I heard. Poor fella.

So the Dept went a bought 1600 new servers, with 3 x 1.2TB in RAID 5.
What do you think about that! -

RAID 5 & 1.2TB disks!
But, maybe they could only lay their hands on X amount of disks and had to settle for 3 just so they could roll out enough servers.
It's getting hard to source stuff, I went to the garage the other day for new wiper blades and the bloke said he can't get any. -

Trying to fill eight hours of work is... well work. I miss and enjoy working from home.. but it's also a pain. We have to document in .25 increments.
I've managed to listen to droning training, all while updating my instance of NC, rPi and laptop running U20.04.. about out of things I could do..
do you have to document what you're doing every 15 minutes??
how unworkable. In a manner of speaking yes - I'm taking the approach that a call or a email is .25 - even if it only takes me eight minutes to address... and updating the spreadsheet is part of that,.. so - meh what ever.

@JaredBusch said in What Are You Doing Right Now:
Also don’t neglect putting at least an hour a day down as “documenting my day”
Damn skippy - that's a given.

Just found out someone submitted my info to unemployment. Great, now I get to add working on fraud to my list of stressors.
Just some random person filed unemployment for you? WTF
That's what it seems like currently - only found out because Nebraska Dept of Labor sent a request for past employment.
of course, I call to try to report fraud - and I just get - leave a voicemail, and perhaps we'll call you back in 30 weeks.
can't you just not respond and they'll drop it all because you didn't respond?
I'm sure they wouldn't do anything if you didn't.This didn't come to me - this came to my current employer, verifying employment details, presumably so they can see what kind of benefits I qualify for.
And no, if my employer doesn't respond, I wouldn't expect the state to drop it - what if my employer didn't exist anymore? A person seeking unemployment shouldn't be penalized because their previous employer isn't responding to correspondence.

And your employer will 100% contest this because unemployemnt claims against a company affect their tax rates in some fashion, depending on state.

Yeah, and we've had to do this with false or accidental claims before. It's standard fair. Once you say "do we have to pay unemployment for someone we currently employ" the tend to be like "oh WTF".

LOL - well, the person who handles this came to me and said - did you quit and forget to tell me? She was making light of it. To me, I'm bugged because, yeah identity fraud... As I said before, I'm glad I have my credit reports locked.

I have strong feelings about RAID5 and this question is the only one that's important right now.
