On the phone with Rogers technical support right now trying to find a certain client in their system, without much luck...
A certain client whose datacenters keep going offline?
No, this was regarding a DSL circuit. Because of the way they abbreviated the client's name in their system, it took us 15 minutes to find them...

Getting some planning done, looks like we are heading to Morocco for the weekend!

How often do they go over there?
So far I have been able to send them every year since they have been in school.
The girls are enrolled in school while they are there since the Japanese school year does not go on summer break until the middle of July.
Usually get 4-6 weeks in school there.

I would really love to go to Japan some day. I have a friend who is going to be stationed there by the end of the year, should be there for three years... may have to go visit him.
I am obviously heavily biased, but I love the country.
If you have the opportunity to go, do so.

I'm buying electric toothbrush heads.

Getting GroveSocial moved over to all Mac/Apple everything. We had been using Office365 but not going to keep paying for full MS Office. So learning to use Mac/Apple Apps for everything. Email is still O365 exchange but no MS applications at all on that side for me.
It's not as painful as I thought it would be

What about LibreOffice? Free on Mac and way more full featured than the Apple tools.

Well from what I am seeing so far there is not a need to use anything other than, Pages and Numbers. They work just fine. The native Email app is also fine. The calendaring is a little funky though, so trying to get used to that.

I have to ask "why?"
I am not a Mac user so I don't actually know any benefits of using them. I have family members that use them but I have almost zero understanding of the Mac world.
Ā
Are there significant benefits? or is it an image thing?
How many are you deploying?
Are you integrating them with some kind of server or network storage? -

That's the issue.... so far. When you need the flexibility is a bad time to find out that you are limited unnecessary. Since LibreOffice is free, there is little reason to use the less capable Pages and Numbers just for the sake of using something branded by Apple. That they work well on an iPad might be a selling point if you plan to move files back and forth. But if you plan to work with people who might not be on a Mac, Pages and Numbers might not be good choices.
It's really about future flexibility more than anything. Although since I have a Mac and have tried to use them, I don't find them as comfortable to use as LibreOffice either.

Since GroveSocial is well Social/Marketing. There are a lot of Apps available via the apple store for us to use for free that make our job much easier.
As far as Pages and Numbers the why is more the why not. MS Word is reading things just fine and I can read Word documents without any issues. So there is no real reason not to. Pages has everything I have needed for formatting and well typing a document. So I am not seeing a significant benefit to move to Libreoffice at all (just another thing to have installed) and I do work from the Ipad a bit when traveling so having that just seamlessly work is very nice. There is a way to use Libreoffice on the Ipad but it is horrible.

"Why Mac?", the question is.

Righto. So I imagine that you are going cloud storage with versioning and Time Machine for end point backups?

And we only have 3 Mac's for now. But hope to grow from there. We have debated for some lower level staff of having them on Chromebooks. Most of their job would be just online posting for customers. So the Chromebook would be perfect for them.
