Just chowed down on some homemade beef stroganoff. I subbed in lower fat Greek yogurt for sour cream, I think it was actually better than usual.

I spent the last week cutting down/apart a tree that broke in half due to wind last week.

Hope it didn’t hit anything or anything important if it did. We’ve had quite a bit of systems come through here also..

Storm came through about 2:30-3:00am and was very active in lightning…

luckily not. the top half of the tree broke, but not completely - fell over slightly into the street. The break was about 20 feet up - made cutting it down a bit challenging - luckily my latter was talk enough.

haul away, etc was so expensive - it was worth it to buy a slightly used chipper shredder and just deal with it myself. I now have a small pile of logs to give away as firewood.

I need to rent a chipper to deal with my ever-growing pile of limbs and other small debris. Home depot rents them here for $100/day. Now I just need some motivation to do it in the heat...

That is very seasonal here. Burn season starts in October or so.

Just got a parrot today. It's a rescue, very old and needed a new home very quickly. So now we have a parrot.

Anyone interested, we built a PixelFed (Instagram competitor, open source) server on Ubuntu 23.04 that is up and running in production now. Feel free to make accounts and play around. It just went up today so no one is there yet. But interesting to see PixelFed in action.

I got some hanging baskets of portulaca for the front porch yesterday. Today, all the blooms have opened, and I just had a hummingbird feeding on them... Less than 3 feet from my face! I e never seen one that close, it was awesome.

They are everywhere around our yard, but they are easily spooked. I just happened to be standing still, staring at the flowers.
