Interviewing for a dev position. Thought [person] was interviewing for my position. Still though. . .

@eddiejennings Can't the seat cool off a little bit before they find a replacement?

Nope. Feed the new hires to the wolves!

Saw a survey today with 41% of responses being non-viable answers for the question. Really simple question that should not cause confusion. And even with a two page discussion that explains why things are wrong, 41% are still guaranteed wrong as their answers aren't viable - and they have had chances to go back and modify them to be viable. This suggests that of the 59% that responded with viable answers were often just guesses. That nearly half of respondents can't even determine what a plausible answer is would make us expect that around half, at least, of those that got plausible answers got them wrong.

Well what do you expect?
is a silly platform where their policies do not allow for open and honest IT discussion. You can forget about trying to correct anything that isn't accurate or is mythological.

I got the same treatment from eWeek once when I complained that they ran a full article extolling the cost savings that a company had when moving to a product that didn't even exist.

It might go against the spirit of the request though... so be careful.

@coliver Did someone say spirits?!? Make mine a double!
-
@coliver I haven't posted anything of the sort, just my interpretation of some insanity.
-
Did one myself just now. Trying to mount a windows share on Raspbian. The folder is called Share, but the actual share name was Shared. Sadly took me 20 minutes to figure the silly thing out.

Indeed. I have some wine now.

Yeah, someone deleted it along with three pages of good content. Odd that they would delete it as the original author was so proud of it that he gave consent to publication anywhere with accreditation. So weird that someone so incredibly proud and wanting his name attached to the list would ever ask for it to be removed when he went so far out of his way to ensure that people would maintain the list, and make everyone aware that he had made it.

I so wish this thread were still open, sounds like a hell of a read. That other place is so out of control with their moderation. Craziness.

It was the most ridiculous virtualization thread ever. Mostly because of the hubris. The guy thought that he could write the definitive guide to everything virtualization - 20 rules that you had to follow to do it right - and clearly had zero idea how virtualization worked, had never spoken to any IT pro about it ever, didn't research a single thing, had never read or participated in any discussion on the site about it, and basically compiled the most ridiculous list of 20 "idiotic myths newbies with no oversight might get ass backwards about really simple things" - which it's fine to be really confused... but then he went on to claim to know more about virtualization than anyone ever, acted like we were all lying when we didn't have the same problems as him, etc. His insane hubris mixed with insane lack of the most basic understanding of both the topic at hand AND how rules and guidelines should be made in general made it just beyond thinkable how bad it was.

Why do I have to think about that printer developer guru while reading this. You know, the guy who programmed printers. Funny read
