Digital Home Phones - Because sometimes the cell phone is just out of reach..

@DustinB3403 you can route your DID at VoIP.ms however you want.
You would create a sub account for each device. Add all the sub accounts to a ring group.
Then set the destination of the DID to be the ring group.
So get a single DID, create multiple sub groups for my devices, and create a single ring group, that gets rung if she calls the "home phone".
Then it rings everything.

@stacksofplates I'd imagine that if everything is hosted remotely, if you lose connection you would not be able to dial internally which can be a big problem for businesses

I have IOS devices all over the place here and laptops. So no matter what someone calls me on I have them all linked via my ITunes account and all have Skype on them, FB messenger on them all etc. So people can call my one number get all my devices and I can answer a call or they can reach me via messaging and I get it everywhere.
That is essentially my goal, to be able to be reached on any of my devices.
Again make her get a smart phone! Get her one for Christmas heck an IPOD that only works on wifi would be better than her flip phone

So... You can get unlimited talk, text, and wifi data for 15$ a month via Republic Wireless. You can get a Moto E for just over 100$. She would have the same functionality she has now but with the added benefit of being able to text more easily. For 5$ more a month you can get 1GB of data (the plan I have) so she can actually do smartphone-esque things.

Ok off topic, I didn't realize you could do all of that through their service alone. Why use a local PBX for most places at all then?
Because it is tie in to your provider. I prefer to have multiple options for calls.
But really for a basic thing like @DustinB3403 wants, this is the simplest technical solution to his SO issue.

I have FreePBX set up with Google voice.
Hrm, I think I need to setup a FreePBX box somewhere now.

Upgrading her equipment is a battle I just don't care to fight for. Emotional reasoning, so adding something that makes my life easier (and for pennies per use) to me is worth it.

Plus if I implement a solution such as this, and she finally does upgrade to a smart phone; I can then setup said smart phone with a soft phone and she could also receive the calls from home.
Just makes life a bit easier (assuming she freaking upgrades....)

At some point she's not going to have the option. My fiance is upgrading this summer thank god. I'm going to upgrade this coming summer as well. I wanted to get an Unbuntu phone but google pixel looks pretty cool. Idk.

Apple has some way of transferring cellular calls to non cellular devices, I'm not sure there is a way to do that on Android. If there is, someone please enlighten me.

I'm praying for the day her phone dies (and all flip phones are no longer supported)

Embrace the darkness @DustinB3403

Yes, meaning if someone where to call the "home phone" her phone would be in the ring group.
IE she could get the call.

I think you have a long time to wait. There is no reason I can think of that flip phones will ever be discontinued. Sure they can force the price increase on flip phone users, but actually preventing them from being on the network.. nah..

I've setup a FreePBX VM before (I'll have to double check if I still have it) but am curious if I can set this up.
That if someone calls the home phone that it would ring my laptop, her laptop, my tablet. If no answer on any of these forward to a voicemail box.
That's what I've had at home for many years. Makes things much easier. My dad is on the PBX now, as well.

I'm sure you could find a way to expedite the process. An accidental drop from a 10 story building or "accidentally" driving over the phone after it "accidentally" falls out of your pocket come to mind
You know...stuff users do to get new laptops more quickly then their scheduled hardware cycle date. Lol
