MangoCon 2016 NYS

If all you all wanted to just attend a conference and then go back to your hotels and not hang out all night. It's easy to find a venue. To have options for hanging out in bars etc. Rochester is actually looking like our best option at this point.

It's the crowd that makes it exciting or boring, not the venue.
Well the venue a little bit. If they are to conservative, they'll stifle the fun.

The Old Toad is one of those places that you want to be proper and quiet in. You feel like you would get a disapproving look from other patrons and the bar tender if you were loud.

Never been like that when I've been there. It's pretty rowdie. Remember, it's British.

I've always wanted to visit New York State. MangoCon may let me do it on the Company's dime!

Upstate NY, when it isn't winter, is actually pretty awesome. Especially in the fall and to a lesser extent, the spring. Great food, low costs, easy travel, tons of great history, neat cities, etc.

All of the stuff I like.

Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Letchworth / Portage Canyon, Ithaca, Watkins Glen, Finger Lakes Wine Country, lots of museums, the Erie Canal, famous battle sites... something for everyone.
-
Two Great Lakes, all of the Finger Lakes, the Grand Canyon on the East, the Hudson River Valley (a fjord), several very important cities, the oldest city north of Florida in the US (Albany), etc. Buffalo used to be America's second city too. Once upon a time NY had the largest and the second largest cities in the country!

Currently working on finding cool bars, restaurants, and places to sightsee in the Niagara Falls/Buffalo/Rochester area.
To do this right,.. you'll also need to make sure there are enough portals around for @JaredBusch and myself.

@scottalanmiller system issue, can you put a link around an image like @gjacobse just tried to do?
Looking at the two markdown formats, I am not sure how to do it.
a link: [test link] (link url)
an image: ! [img] (imgurl) -

You can actually hit the Quote button and see the syntax other folks have used... I usually use:
![sometext](urlforimage)

That is for an image. I know how that works. I specifically stated to add a LINK to an image.

example I found with google:

what @gjacobse did:
[![ingressbattle[1].jpg](https://i.imgur.com/CmJJDRkm.jpg) ](www.ingress.com)
ah testing.. the lack of the http in his link was it. this works..
[![ingressbattle[1].jpg](https://i.imgur.com/CmJJDRkm.jpg) ](https://www.ingress.com)
-
You just need to add http. If you don't, it thinks its an alias.

Found the Tap and Mallet in Rochester, http://www.tapandmallet.com/, that looks pretty cool. A lot of local food, vegan and gluten free options, and lots of draft beer!
How many gluten free vegans will be in attendance???
