It's apparently a sporadic issue with Server 2012 r2 or Windows 8.1 running on Hyper-V on Windows 8.1/Server 2k12 R2 with Generation 2 VMs and secure boot. Secure boot needs to be disable for some updates. All expect for 3 out of the 98 were failing. Odd thing is there are four other 2k12 r2 Gen 2 VMs on the host that had no issues with the windows updates. Disabled Secure boot on the VM and it worked fine.

From a technical standpoint, none. I can't really explain why that's how I feel. It's just how it makes sense in my head.

Still is, I think. The focus is really around blogging and other things are extensions or add ons. It's generally a good platform, but it is heavily designed around the blog format. I mean for the first many years the idea of using it for anything except a blog was unheard of.

Only way to find out which is which is to perform testing from the telco side. Lock the port, run an MLT, see what happens. Then test the smartjack for errors. Then look at CPE.

Agreed. They just mean you have errors. It doesn't tell you where they are at.

Don't believe that there is anything official. But the term "managed services" is the tip off. People who don't do managed services feel strange using the term as it doesn't reflect what they do in any way. An MSP should be a "provider of managed services."

Lots of firms do a mix of things. NTG will do MSP work if requested, but we don't push it. MSP firms will normally do something else if the price is right. MSPs nearly always mix in VAR work. VARs often offer MSP services.

Sadly, because MSP has become the word that non-technical people use, everyone has had to start using it to refer to themselves even when they know that they are not.

I want to make sure that it just plain works with someone else's setup. You must have remoting enabled on server - an assumption on my part, but I don't even think about it being enabled any more, but considering the intended audience for the script, I should...!

I don't think touch input will ever beat a keyboard as much as some people want it too. Touch is great for some things. But not typing unless its some causal light typing.

I have. I like it but find that I'd almost prefer just to use IE natively. But it IS a great extension!

Yeah, that's all I think should be necessary. I haven't used Ubuntu Desktop in years. I've been exclusively CLI for a few years now.

I loved SunOS, Solaris, and OpenSolaris, but after the Oracle buyout all of the Sun equipment has been slowly replaced and has gone away for the most part, and with the important features being ported to other OSes like FreeBSD, there's not much of a real reason to use OpenSolaris or its babies. Having said that though, I'm put off by the name OpenIndiana, it just sounds really stupid to me, and I don't think I could ever install something like that without flat out denying it if anyone asked. It just makes me think "that's the best name you could come up with, huh? Not even anything remotely related to the Sun or stars or anything..." (I realise the origin comes from a project name, but sticking with it was a mistake, so in a sense I guess I should say "So, couldn't come up with anything at all?")

Darn. I got it over to Hyper-V but it just goes to automatic repair and won't boot to windows. I guess I should have removed VMware Tools first I forgot. Hopefully that's the only issue.
