I've been buying Elite desktops for a while now and I do see that by default they come with 3 years and the support personal don't ask questions when you seem to know what you are talking about - they simply send you parts or dispatch a tech.

RE: Do we have any Veeam people here yet?
I currently use Replay from Appasure/Dell. even though I've never used it I like the feature where I can start a restore and my users can start using the volume right away.
Does Veeam support this?
Does Veeam support single email level restores in Exchange? Have you ever done it?

RE: OReilly Deal of the Day
Looks like it might be a good time to buy some MS Press books.

RE: HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Mini
I know size shouldn't matter.. but I have to say the price on these smaller boxes seem higher than they should be - I know Scott will probably say something like - it takes a lot more engineering to ensure the cooling/power/etc are all correctly designed in a unit this small.

RE: New player in the market- hubic
Along that same lines I've asked management if we could filter these types of services from use before people start using them. Of course no filter will get them all, but by blocking most the hope is that staff will reach out and ask - hey I would like to use drop box - then we can have a real discussion to find a solution that will provide the services they require while still following regulation.
I'd rather have this instead of the problem I have today - people use texting inappropriately because they are either to lazy to use the correct encrypted solution or too cheap to pay for it.

Do we have any Veeam people here yet?
I'd like to discuss Veeam with a sales rep.
At the same time - anyone have any comments on Veeam and Exchange/SQL?

RE: What's Your Current Project?
@jaredbusch Only in so much as I hope it works. I've read several posts where people haven't been able to install newer versions of ESXi on old hardware (nothing specific to the DL series though).
I've always planned to still try it, I'm simply disappointed that it's not on the list, but I can understand why.

RE: Can anyone point me to a good reference for SPF records
@scottalanmiller said:
No, SPF and TXT are two different record types.
I stand corrected.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sender_Policy_FrameworkThey used to be implemented as TXT records. I was unaware that they officially had their own type now.

RE: Is the main screen supposed to scroll like this?
I'm using NoScript (allowing all scripts currently on ML) and Tree Style Tab. They don't seem to effect any other site noticeably.

I know, I haven't thought about this stuff in nearly a decade.
Wow... I think that might actually be literal. This was 2013-ish right? Makes me want to get a case of Bawls and go to a Starcraft party.
awww starcraft lanparties.. them's the days!

RE: Wireless electricity may soon power cell phones, cars and even heart pumps
So how do you handle charging?
I've read that it's best to keep Lithium Ion batteries fully charged as often as possible - it makes them last longer and they don't suffer from memory problems like old NiCad. Granted over charging is bad,
What best practice do you use?

RE: Is the main screen supposed to scroll like this?
I use firefox everywhere - I can't bring myself to use Chrome I'd miss the addons I have - and I really don't want to give more to google (no real logical arguement - just don't want to)

RE: What's Your Current Project?
Hubtech - your server is a DL 360, not a DL 380.
@Hubtech said:
I just set two dl360 g5's with 5.5 why can't you lab with the 380s?
I probably can, but the HCL does not support 5.5 on the DL 380 G5. G6 sure, but not the G5.

I think I'll sue Runza - I ordered two salads and two drinks - and got only one napkin... hmmm...

I've really not had bad IT jobs. Had bad pre-IT jobs, but in IT it has been pretty decent. I guess working for a major grocery store chain ... that jobs sucked a lot. The culture of despair was unreal. No one was happy, everyone was just sad all day. And everyone quit the moment that they could.
How funny - my worse job was also a grocery one. The manager was racist and sexist, what makes it weird.. he was sexist against other men.

@Dashrender One of my favorite RTS games, really miss when the C&C games were good.
I really cut my teeth on PC gaming with C&C and followed it all the way to Generals - to me the golden days of PC gaming. I've never been one for FPS, but I love resource management games.

RE: Is the main screen supposed to scroll like this?
I have poor performance with ML in general. when I click the inbox icon to see the list of threads with new posts - it can take up to 7 seconds to load. I'm on a 6/6 meg pipe that's normally only 50% used.
I see the same thing when I'm at home too though.

Current projects:
Deploy new DL380 G8 with ESXi 5.5 u1
Migrate VMs from old host
Migrate from Server 2003 R2 to 2012 R2and replace 40 workstations running XP with win7 and win 8.1
Sounds like a good project. Finally someone deploying something current.
The sad thing is, I have two DL380 G5's and the VMWare HCL says they only support to up to ESXi 4.1 i was really hoping I'd have some lab boxes.

RE: And the frivolousness continues
It's just sad that it pays off.
There's almost no chance that this case will go to court. instead the real goal is probably just a $10K settlement from McDs. It will cost McD's less in the long run, and lawyer gets an easy $5K+, etc. Frustrating.
I would love to see a point where McD wins the case and the other side is held liable for the lawyer fees of the winner (McD's in this case), but that has flaws to - if that were the situation then little guys would never sue big guys because the if you lose, you really lose (i.e. at best the business of the small lawyer and sueing parting are gone - at worse so are their personal belongings). It's a difficult spot any way you look at it.
