is the extra addons/features reliable = no

You can say that about any system that allows add ons. Just don't use them if they are a problem. Treat them as other pieces of software and evaluate them individually.

If you think of Windows or Linux as the base and say that not all of the third party software available for them are reliable, you'd not be able to use operating systems in general.

@aaronstuder seems to do what? Amazon is NOT claiming to do Datacenter licensing, it is SPLA. And if you look at how tiny those instances are, they are definitely charging the normal Windows amount for them. So nothing like any of the ones that we've been questioning. It is, in fact, these Amazon numbers that make us realize how far off the other vendors are that are not charging plausible rates for Windows.

But Amazon has Datacenter on the systems through EC2 as far as I hosted Windows Servers there.

Are you sure that they are DC not SPLA?

      It is SPLA https://aws.amazon.com/windows/faq/

Right, that's the key difference. Amazon uses SPLA, like Vultr does, and clearly covers the cost of it. These others, say Datacenter instead of SPLA, and don't cover the costs.

It's the combination of claiming a different license and being absurdly cheap, too cheap to pay for SPLA, that is the tip off.

What I should have clarified was that the Servers are running on Datacenter Edition regardless if they have SPLA or not using EC2.

Ah, I see. Yes, DCE vs DCL.

      No thanks....

Not sure I see the issue here. The only Payment provider I'm not familiar with is Moneybookers. The others are legit AFAIK.

Paypall is fine. WU is.... expensive.

I almost wonder if it will get like a commodity where there is no money to be made, especially on the lower end.

It's happened with enough other technologies.

Or where people keep predicting Windows will end up.

XFCE isn't bad, it just seems dated. Reminds me of the first time I used Linux in the early 2000's.

XFCE only seems that way by default. Look at Korora, they do an amazing job of polishing up XFCE. Feels super modern there.

But it IS dated, that's its charm. It is light and fast, nothing you don't need.

Yeah but can I watch YouTube and netflix through it???

Why wouldn't you be able to? HTML5 (which they both can use now) is implemented in the browser, nothing depends on anything else anymore. Besides, the GUI interface never made a difference with that anyway.

I've tried a few other things, would never be able to watch Youtube through Logmein, VNC, NoDesktop, very laggy compared to RDP 10...

I just finished upgrading my Fedora 26 laptop to 27 a bit ago.

      So far everything working 100%.

I've been using it for my laptop and I like it a lot. Just on Cinnamon here, but everything has been very good since updating.

The only issue I have ran into so far is my mouse disappears in Virt-Manager when setting up a VM.

      Ctrl + Alt fixes that.

I will have to give that a try.

As a non Chrome fan I'm looking forward to it.. sadly Side Tree Tabs won't be ported over.. I hate top tabs.

Users going to start complaining about addons not working even though the developers had so much time to make their addon compatible.

No different than people bitchin' about Windows 7 EOL in 2 years 2 months.

You can force caller ID however you want. It is just a matter of the specific customization.

By default, these are your only options. You would have to get into a custom Asterisk context to do more.

And your iPhone will show is as a number from what ever country code matches the first part of the extension. (5100 will show as Peru).

I used a CID prefix in one situation. doesn't come through to my cell phone, but passes through an IAX2 trunk to my desk phone nicely.

What are the settings that you have?

On ldap page, select first 3 options; ldap enabled ad and pass sync

      Ad domain your ad fqdn

      Ldap would be ldap://servername.fqdn

      Ldap bind username domain\uername

Bind password the ad user password

Base bind dn is the ou=xx,dc=xx,dc=xx format

      Ldap filter: &(cn=*)
      Username field : samaccountname
      Lastname: sn
      Ldap firstname: givenname
      Ldap auth query: samaccountname
      Ldap email: mail
