Spent hours trying to get the VR working again today after having tried playing Coffin Dodgers. One run through of that game, three hours of trying to make the VR work again. Oculus is really cool when it works, but holy cow is this an amateur made system.
Why does it stop working? I've never used one and curious of the issues and causes.
Hard to say. We did a full reinstall which, according to their site is the only approach with all files being manually deleted, and that didn't work on its own. But we swapped to a different set of GPU drivers and then things started working. I didn't "touch" anything after it started working. So that the moment it is working.
But it isn't working the way that it is supposed to. It can't put games into the library. Everything depends 100% on SteamVR. @JeremyRichardson has the same Rift S and his games get added, and stay, in the Oculus library. but ours do not. Once you reboot, they are gone, and without that, the Oculus menus are broken so you can't switch between games or get to options.
So something remains wrong. And the issues we've seen are ones reported in their support forums. But very weird stuff.

Downloaded Witcher 3 yesterday.
I'm still trying to get back into Witcher 1 and finish it, lol.

I played Witcher 1 when it was new and sort of recalled it being at least a decent game. Tried replaying 1 and playing 2 when I picked up 3 as I got them in bundle form.
Could. Not. Do. It.
After butting my head against mediocre to bad writing and awkward game play, I skipped to 3. I really enjoyed Witcher 3 and may play again. Certainly if they do another, I'll give it a go, but I will not be attempting the older titles again.

Well that's not encouraging.

Witcher 1 and 2 didn't hold up well....They really show their age.

Finally bought RDR2 and have been playing Online a bit. There is no greater feeling than spawning into a session just to immediately get shot in the head, told your username is stupid, and called a pussy by someone who sounds like their father and uncle are the same person. Game looks great though! Really loving the hunting & fishing aspect.

I don't feel so bad now... and after reading @NDC's description, I may just skip to 3, lol.

I like the game play, the graphics aren't terrible... It's just the questing and such seems repetetive to me.

A whole lot of Root just arrived. Can’t wait to get some games going!

Did a ton of Lancer TTRPG over the weekend. Imagine the tactical wargame mechanics of DnD 4e (or so I've been told) combined with far future mechs, significantly easier mechanics, and the narrative of a modern, indie ttrpg.

Yeah, they pretty much ripped it die roll for die roll from 4e from the people I've talked to.
The combat system was the thing I (and most gamers) hated the most about 4e.

This was quite a bit of fun. I'm not a minis and hexes gamer typically so I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I think it made a huge difference with how the mechanics of the various mechs worked out. It is a very tightly designed game. No one felt over powered compared to the rest, we ended up winning both scenarios, but it was by very narrow margins.

I've heard good things about Lancer to be honest. I'd like to try it at some point. I think the mechanics need to fit the setting and they do a much better job in this instance.

Mechanics need to fit intent. I have a hard time believing that the 4e need for pre-configuring grid based battles can be reconciled reasonably with any sort of decent narrative experience.
Curious how they try to handle the core rules being inherently incompatible with one of their stated goals.
