I get contacted about maybe 10-20 senior positions a day.

I just told a job that because they used Cisco UCS I knew that they didn't take what they do seriously so I wasn't interested in continuing the conversation. If you are still using Cisco UCS in 2017, you are a freaking idiot. Lots of people were fooled by that crap a few years ago and tried it out, but if you've not learned better and replaced it by now... c'mon.
Replaced it? What if it's still serving it's purpose?

@scottalanmiller That's how you can have the clients that follow your recommendations. In the end it would have been hard to have them as clients if they are not willing to change unless they told you right away.
Yeah, and the issue was that they wanted someone with Cisco UCS skills... which means they are seeing it as an active investment.
Ok this explains why you told them no.

UCS is old, by this point either they had to buy it long ago and have learned their lessons and not replaced it with another or they had plenty of time to have known that it was a joke as everyone did many years ago and known not to have bought it. In either case, it's at a point where having it and investing in it is wrong.

Right, it's not the OWNING it that is bad, it's that they are focusing their hiring around keeping it.

Got off to a slowish start, but it sure has picked up.

Reading about SIP to have a better understanding of what is exactly happening when you're initiating a call.

Sitting at the colo, watching an array rebuild, then it's time to go home.

I was on the way home at noon, but when I got here there was a failed drive, so I had to go back for the spare. It's alright, I have a fun night planned.

Will there be multiple arrays to be watched?
-
@BRRABill the array watching will soon be done, then I'll be on my way to hang out with a lovely young lady.
-
Maybe taking the kids to the splash park in a bit.
-
At the park.

Had a good conversation with a co-worker (a dev in the IT dept, newer to the field than I) for the last 30 minutes about dealing with business challenges. Despite being almost done with year 4 in IT, really in the last eight months or I've begun to realize what IT's actual place is in the world of business (see the various threads about what is IT). It's curious as I come to these realizations I'm experiencing a sensation of "I knew this, but didn't realize that this is what the this is."

There is a lot of that in IT. It's so informal that people kind of guess and no one really says things or writes them down.

Back from the splash park, that place was great.

Was gone for hours and still caught up on SW in just a few minutes. Weird.
