How to get Edge, chrome and firefox bookmarks from defective laptop? Is it possible to extract it from the SSD w/out booting the Windows 10 since the laptop is defective?

Honestly, I have no idea. For Edge, I have the users Sync it since they have O365 anyway. That is the "official" browser for most clients anyway.

All browsers have had this functionality for so long that I don't even bother to try to save this information any other way.

Similarly, Firefox has its own sync function via your Mozilla account.

Chrome syncs via the Gmail account.

Yes, you can copy the files directly if you want - assuming the drive isn't encrypted.

          For Firefox for instance:
          https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-bookmarks-from-backup-or-move-them

I would simply connect the drive to another computer and browse to the bookmarks location of each browser.

            Edge

            Firefox

Chrome "For the current problem, the bookmarks are stored in a file named Bookmarks in the Chrome profile, which is stored in the User data area. (Example: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Bookmarks) You can copy it to the new profile."

That should get you up and online.

Encryption - this is going to be your go/no-go element. Although if it's bitlocker I've been told that if you plug the drive into another windows machine it's supposed to prompt for the bitlocker key. Haven't had a chance / reason to test it out though.

Yes, anything that can read bitlocker encrypted drives will prompt you for the key.

Unless MS has updated it - I heard that this only works for consumer accounts, not business class O/M365 accounts, have you heard/seen different?

Yup, I do this and the user gets pretty much a turn key experience. Anything chromium base will be like this,.. pretty much anyway.

If you need, I can likely share the syntax I use for grabbing Chrome and Edge for a back up.

It even works with an AD account.

                        Yes.
Like @DustinB3403 I'd pull the drive out, and put it in an adapter/caddy.
Then can copy the user profile/specific folders & files elsewhere.

Be sure to encourage the user to back up their stuff.
