My stepfather has 4 that are linked to different machines via software the simulates the mouse movement across screens seamlessly. He likes having Fedora but also has to have windows for some in house applications.

I use 1 at work and two at home.

      Syngergy?

Sounds familiar. It could be. I'll ask him.

I use it at home between the two systems.

It's pretty useful if you want to have one running windows and one running linux

        At work, two monitors.
At home, I use to have three screens now its only a TV and a monitor.

I use GNOME3 workspaces a lot so two screens works pretty well for me.

I think two is the sweet spot for most folks.

At work I have 1 x 34" and just use VirtuaWin for virtual desktops.

At home, I've got my 17" laptop with one screen, and 2 desktops that have 1 screen... Gods, I need to set up Synergy on them!

I have 3 24" screens on my desk at work, and rarely see my desk at work. End up working on the 14" laptop screen almost exclusively.

At home, 3 screens as well. 24" 1820x1040, 32" 2550x1600, 55" TV (1820x1040). Normally playing games on the 32", reading on the 24" and YouTube/Twitch/Netflix going on the TV.

I have 4 monitors set up 2x2 vertical because I'm 1 out of 2 IT guys at my company. 1 screen for email and the other 3 for all other insanity.

I use two 27", but am considering going to three when I pull off getting more desk space.

I would use one for email, and one just for IMs!

Yeah, too many and you start to risk distraction.

2 at work a my phone at home 😁
Could do with swapping the 24" for slightly bigger like 27". But a Scott said too many and I'd loose what I was doing on each.

Typical on site at clients. I ask for a spare monitor.

3 monitors + lappy screen at work. Typically just a laptop on the recliner or couch at home, I've got a desk with an E-Dock and 2 monitors in the basement if I really need to work on something (generally try to avoid it though).

Just to know, I am with two 24" fullHD because it has around the height of an A4 paper page. and not 4k because at the distance can't see much of a difference while working. (gaming different deal) what are your choices?

I've used different multimonitor setups for years. It used to be that one monitor didn't have enough screen estate so you'd have 2 to 6 monitors to compensate. But 3-4 years ago larger monitors started to show up and that is what I use now. So one 40-50" inch 16:9 monitor, preferably curved.

I'm still longing for something wider with more pixels so I hope someone will make a curved 21:9 at around 55".

It's because most people are used to working on very small screens, like one tiny 24".

But it's not really as big as you might imagine:
                                  https://core4.staticworld.net/images/article/2016/05/dell-4k-monitor-100662717-large.jpg
It's 43" Dell in the pic.

Monitors in this size goes for around $550 to $850 so they're not that expensive.

2 at work and 2 at home. Soon to be 3 at home if I can find a decent looking monitor mount for my desk. I want 3 monitors at home but don’t want the space taken up my monitor stands.

2.5 screens seems to be right number for me! Seriously though sometimes I use 3 screens and sometimes i just use 2. It depends on what I'm dojng but for certain tasks I like the 3rd screen. Mostly of the time, I throw up a terminal split with terminator into 6 windows and run glances on some remote servers on my 3rd screen.

We use 3x QHD 27" monitors when space allows.
4k requires too much windows "scaling" (read: blurry) for this size of screen whereas QHD at 100% scaling with browser zoom set to 125% is just about perfect for most of us.

                                            I'd prefer something like this:

                                            https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Multi-Client-Monitor-P4317Q-DisplayPort/dp/B06ZZ25ZZS/ref=asc_df_B06ZZ25ZZS/?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid={creative}&hvpos={adposition}&hvnetw=o&hvrand={random}&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl={devicemodel}&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4584413735714874&psc=1

But 2 or 3 regular works.
